mamata has said that she will extend this train to karwar. I dont see the point. They should extend 16517 to karwar. Its sad that the railways have absolutely no sense of making money. They should run another night train to mangalore from bangalore via arsikere(and not mysore) and extend that to karwar so that one can reach karwar by 10 am or so

121. The run of the following trains will be extended:

21. Yesvantapur-Mangalore Express to Karwar (16515/16516)
.
They why grumble again when it is extended to Karwar?

well im grumbling because extending this train is not too practical. they should have extended the night train. this is a day train and already takes a whole day to reach mangalore from yesvantpur. it will take another 5 hours to reach karwar.
Instead if they put a night train to karwar from bangalore, it will be of real use to people.

Yes extending the Day train makes no sense at all.. it makes the journey too long all day and uncomfortable.Railways have no sense at all.It already takes 11 hrs to reach Mangalore ..and Konkan route being a single line will take another 6 hrs to reach Karwara. More over there are many pilgrim places like udupi, Mookambika, Murdeshwar , Gokarna, idgunji for which people will like to reach in the morning the train will go to these places late in the evening not user frndly.
16527/16528 is another Train between Yesv- Kannur Via Coimbatore this train reaches Kannur faster than the Yes-Mys-kannur .. so If people wanna go to Kannur they will surely go in

the first train.. so they must ideally divert the second train to Karwara .. why 2 trains to Kannur I dont understand .When I went to Mangalore via Mysore-Kannur train..all passengers got down at MAQ there was hardly anyone left in the train to go to Kannur.

I am from Kannur and I have seem both the trains 6517/18 and 6527/28 especially 6517 running empty on most days will less passengers except on weekdays or on festivals like Onam, Vishu, Ramzan, and Christmas. Yes before there was a huge demand to extend 6517/18 to Kannur from Mangalore the main reason was the road connecting to bangalore with Kannur was closed from 2008 for repair from Virjpet to Makutta. Buses has to take a longer route and also at the same time Karnataka imposed night travelling of vehicles in the only available route stating vehicles are disturbing the movements of wildlife. All these made miserable for people travelling between Banglore and Malabar region of Kerala. Now in June 2010 the makutta road has opened and majority of people are travelling in this route by bus, car, etc. which takes only 5-6 hours for the pvt luxary bus around 7...

hours only. Personally I am from Kannur and was working in B’lore for the past 15 years . I know most of the people except aged all prefers buses.
Those who are preferring train their first choice is 6527/28 instead of 6517/18 which takes longer time and ascends and descends around 900 mts height to maximum and journey is uncomfortable (personal experiences) compared to 6527/28 which gets full first.
This opinion is based on my observation and especially people around Thalassery, Kannur, and Kasargod prefer buses (6-7 hours only) than train to bangalore except for aged and those who have plenty of time. Seats are available in train for most of ther days but almost all buses (around 20 to 30 buses from Kannur) are full.
My opinion is it is better to divert 6517/18 to KARWAR as we have 6527/28 (daily) which is most preferred train by Malabar people and Karwar has no direct rail assess to capital B’lore. Actually IR has to extend 6517 to Karwar but they extended to CAN siting the inconvenience cause by the road travel (Makuta), which has been solved now.
Thank you.

Thanks 4 d response..they need to re-think abt extending the night train and leave the day train un-affected .If they wanna generate revenues Night train is what needs to be extnd , atleast they can get revenue by charging sleeper (Express) fares.Extending the day train might help the local commuters of Coastal Karnataka and over there the ticket fares will become further cheap similar to MAQ-Verna passenger. This will further create a loss I feel.

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
