You have to play cleverly while booking if tatkal is 100 available and general wl is 100 then surely all WL is going to have berths. Say I understand this and booked wl ticket and unluckily available tatkal seats are booked by other passengers then WL will remaing WL and you may not have any seat.
If we think of saving money then why IR can not think for itself, what is wrong in it. It is running without fare increase since last 8 years that will not be remembered by us. We will only think about our pocket. Even though Including Tatkal fare also, IR is cheaper and best in compare to any other means of travel.

Well some more information, as i was thinking these kinda query later on!!
Mr. Manish has given wise statement, about the same!!
#
Now, watching empty berth, doesnt mean, the train is empty!!
Have a
...

look, HWH to Champa falls under GNWL & so if berth are empty from HWH, but same would be booked from KGP/TATA/CKP/ROU/JSG/RIG/CPH, under the same GEN Quota, which are been shared by all these stations.
Now, if search for booking from HWH-Champa or any station between them, status will be different & quite vacancy is visible!!
#
The berth which are looking vacant, actually arnt that vacant, as the Quota is full & under waiting and its no game by IR.
#
Even, if HWH-Champa stretch is empty, it will not clear WL for HWH-PUNE or any GNWL!!
#
Being departing late & in morning hours, many travellers doesnt prefer this train (as many got overnight travelling option earlier, for HWH-Champa stretch) & that may have been the reason for non/less utilization of Quota between HWH-Champa!!

yr point is logical if 100 avlbl in tatkal n wl too 100 cud be 100 wl can be seen n tried ., but when tatkal taken and yu see 65% berths un-occupied yu feel cheated due this wrongfull commercial deceit by i..r. at large .

In the case of cbe-mv Janshatabdi express the status explained seems to be a regular feature on a daily basis. Why can't IR reduce the Tatkal quota to acceptable limits based on experience so that loss to the unwary passengers could be reduced.
:
Further many travelers would shy away from the train seeing the WL and the additional tatkal fare involved. Since distance involved is less than about 300 km they migrate to road travel. IR is deprived of potential revenue. Some hard thinking is necessary.

@Gopalakrishnan*: Re# 133331-10
Thats a different debate!!
For trains, having lots of vacancy, IR slowly increase Tatkal Quota, as like many case in GR or other trains!! Eevn, if someone willing to escape Jan-Shatabdi, out of WL, still they always have some or other train (as Jan-Shatabdi are always for shorter route) with vacancy!!
Even if we check the Jan-Shatabdi's, with exceptions, they are

vacant mostly!!

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
