What does WL in Tatkal mean (given there's no cancellation benefit in Tatkal)? Are WL in Tatkal cleared before the general waitlist? Why should someone book (or not) a Tatkal WL ticket?
Thanks in advance for your help answering this.

I still thinks we need for clarification here.
For all quotas if we know what happens in such scenarios that will be great.
!. If there is unused quota, what happens to those unused berths/seats. Like HO, Foreign, Lower berth - who gets it CK or GN
2. If there are any cancelation who gets those seats/berths form different quotas.

think we all know and agree GN cancelation goes to GN and CK goes to CK, what happens to other quotas?.
Any IR employee or a member with correct info, pls clarify.
Thank you

I am not a rly person. But I can guess (may be wrong). The wait list confirmation occurs in two priority
1) According to the WL sl number i.e. according to the date and time of issue of tkt regardless GN and or CK
2) According to the road side quota (such if some one has WL from HWH-DHN and there is vacancy for this section then the first person having WL for this section gets the seat)

@munir_sm - thanks for the detailed post. Are you sure about the clearing of Tatkal Quota? The reason I ask is that hardly anyone will cancel Tatkal tickets given there's zero refund on CK quota, and given that CK WL clears, I suspect they dip into the general pool or other quotas.

If CK is on WL and then passenger will get full refund minus Rs.20. If there is seats available in other quotas it will given for GNWL and not CK. There might be a possibility that even if seats remain after the GNWL clears then there are chances that they will be alloted to CK.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
