What is technical halt? 4 Answers What is technical halt? technical stops are those stoppages that a train makes during its journey so that the technical aspects of the journey be done.............these include filling of water in toilets, loading food materials in the pantry car, locomotive change, rake reversal , checking of the running stock(wheels, motors etc of locomotives) and also for crew change .......... this concept is normally used where non stop trains are considered like Duronto exp which have no official boarding or de-boarding halts execpt the starting and the destination stations. though many other trains like for eg...the howrah bound geetanjali exp from Mumbai has a technical halt at Igatpuri for a locomotive change.......... and... more... @first blogger: Tech halt for a particular train is a where station / junction where a train stops only for the following events: 1. changing crew/locomotive 2. Restocking meals / water on the train 3.... more... @anon: Feb 26 (12:37AM) I guess you can board at technical halt, provided you have a booking from a commercial stop prior to the technical halt and the berth is not released by the TTE. @MST IndianRailways: Feb 26 (08:31AM) Sir, in case of Duranto, You will have to take end to end ticket. You cannot board the DURANTO's from technical halts. I have travelled on NZM PUNE Duranto. THechnical haults were of just 2 mins for just a crew change. |
