I stayed at Srinivasam complex till now as bus stand is nearby. Me and my group usually travel to Kanipakam, Srikalahasti, Kanchipuram, Vellore along with local temples. So didn't stay at Vishnu Nivasam till date. Did you stay in room or locker at Vishnu Nivasam?

Just last week i went to Tirumala/Thirupathi, from that observation i am sharing this tip if it was old tip pls ignore.

To reach Tirumala from Tirupathi railway station go to the extreme end of FOB next to platform 1, while descending itself u can see gov bus conductors will issue a ticket to reach tirumala hills and bus will be parked adjacent itself. Every 1 minute bus frequency will be available from Tirupathi railway station. Also to reach Alipiri or Srivari mettu Foothills (those who want to go by using footsteps
...

to Tirumala) small mini bus too available from Tirupathi railway station but frequency will be skeleton services.

If u r able to walk means, Tirupathi bus stand will be just 5 minutes walk, just wait on the main road close to bus stand free bus services to Alipiri gate(foothills for pilgrims who want to go by footsteps to Tirumala, but frequency will be maximum every 30 minutes). I used this free bus for my last week Tirumala visit.
