Most of the Express and Mail trains uses the Howrah- Burdwan Chord line, and Sealdah- Burdwan Chord line via Dankuni Junction. Only the Passenger trains and a handful of Express and Mail trains uses the lengthier and slower Main line section via Bendel Junction. Bandel Junction is a station where lines from four different directions meet:
1) Howrah- Bandel
2) Sealdah- Bandel
3) Burdwan- Bandel.
4) Malta Town- Bandel via Katwa, Nabadwip Dham.
Giving me company on the trip were railfans Wrik, P.K. Venkatramani and B.G. (Pen-name), and we were on our way to visit CLW (Chittaranjan Locomotive Works) after getting special permission.

This is what the WAP- 7 seems to be saying. Afterall, 4 railfans were travelling together on the train!!!
Hauled by freshly POH'ed 30204 WAP- 7 of GMO shed (now transferred to HWH), the 40 minutes late running 13317 Howrah (HWH)- Dhanbad (DHN) BLACK DIAMOND Express tears through the quadruple line stretch, and simultaneously skips Kalipahari station enroute through the Up fast line. Kalipahari is the penultimate station before Asansol.
13317 maintains a fantastic run in between Howrah and Burdwan (via HB Main line), where it covers 107 kms in 1h 41m at an average speed of 63 km/hr with 2 halts enroute. But from Burdwan to Dhanbad, it covers 164 kms in 3h 11m at an average speed of 51 km/hr with 11 halts enroute.

time has come to concentrate where there is no trains daily or therte is not a direct connectivity as well as there may be very far distance trains where people does not find place to seat has to depend on reservations.if these trains are given in these year's railway budget,people will be of much help.
