It is a pretty good train to travel to Guwahati from Kolkata. Departs Kolkata and Arrives Guwahati mostly right time, albeit any problems in the route. Priority given is pretty good. When departing from Kolkata, take care to carry your own food as there is none available on Kolkata railway station and the lone restaurant at the station, COMESUM, is a complete LOOT, with veg thali priced around Rs. 190. Outskirts of the station also do not have any food stalls or good hotels. To find food you would have to walk pretty long distance, hence please carry the same if boarding the train from Kolkata railway station. The journey is pretty good, toilets remain clean throughout the journey, smell nice and have hand showers and soap always available. The bedding provided(on payment ofcourse) is pretty clean. hence gets quite empty at NJP. There is no worry for food from early morning as hawkers enter the train regularly and you cam get everything to eat in the train itself. The 'roti sabzi' at NJP is quite popular breakfast with 3 rotis and sabzi for Rs. 20. Catering is present in the train. I don't remember the exact rates but are on the expensive side with the food atmost being on the average side. You can get your lunch at NBQ, but get it quickly as the train does not stop for much time there. The train follows goalpara town route and there you won't find many hawkers. Train pretty much arrives Guwahati before time if departs NBQ on time.
NOTE - Do not buy any electrical gadgets from trains on this route as most of the time you will get fooled by the hawkers. Almost all the products sold by them would break, get damaged soon after you start using them.
