If I may add to your tip, there are plenty and plenty of buses apart from the ones you've listed towards the PF6 entrance from KBS, including quite a few volvos. The place is locally called 'Goverdhan theatre side' stop.
The other entrance, PF1 that is, is locally called market side and has very few buses and runs less frequently.

This tip is for visitors to some of Bengaluru's famous landmarks Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha and Cubbon Park. And also non-veg food loving Bengalureans.
Many state govts. offer highly subsidised meal at govt. canteens. But KA govt. doesn't do that but has a Govt. canteen run by the Fisheries department which offers food at a cheaper rate than outside. It's called Mathsya Darshini. It's located at Cubbon Park.
are many items some of which are available seasonally or on certain days of the week only. But the most popular and available daily is the Fish Meals. It consists of a bowl of rice, a big ragi ball, rasam, a cup of buttermilk and 1 big full Fish or 2 good sized pieces.
Any of these you can take extra too (see menu). The ragi ball is pretty big and if the need be you can ask for extra gravy too (free).
Timing: 12 PM-8PM, all days. But avoid 1 PM-2:00 PM on weekdays as it is the time when Govt. employees from all the surrounding Govt. offices converge here. The queue to buy the token and to take meals is very long. In the evening ragi ball won't be available, I was told.
The place is spacious with blue sheet covering to give a feel of ocean :) Filter water is available. Lots of seating is there, even table to stand and eat. There is a small fish tank with some ornamental fishes in it; you can sit next to it and admire and eat.
Govt. run aqua pet shoppe is there in the front to buy ornamental fishes. There is a Govt. fish shop too with variety of fishes, prawns, crabs...
After seeing Vidhana Soudha, in the opposite is a road that leads to Cubbon Park, if you walk into it and ask for "Govt. Fish Hotel", people will direct you. Or you can walk towards K.R. Circle from Vidhana Soudha and at the circle take left into Cubbon Park, you will get this hotel.
Both ways just few hundred meters from Vidhana Soudha and also Metro station (you can take metro from SBC (Majestic) to Vidhana Soudha).
After the meal, if you stroll into Cubbon Park, to the immediate left you will find a Govt. Horticulture Dept. Shop on the footpath (under a canopy) selling juices and dry fruits. Grape Juice is best, also there is Mango juice. Both priced at Rs.15 (He may say 20 but you insist that you know the price is 15).
Ask for cold one, chilled among blocks of ice (no extra cost). If you take the bottle home to ferment and drink, then its 20 rs.

At Bangalore City station, there is an "illicit nexus" between the Porters and private Taxis. The porters get a commission from the taxi drivers. The porters will ALWAYS take you to so-called "prepaid" taxis waiting outside the station. Actually, these are PRIVATE operators, but are misleading people by painting the letters "PREPAID" on their taxis. These "prepaid" taxis charge upto 40% more than the standard tariff.
INSTEAD, you should tell the porter to take you to the "RAPID TAXI COUNTER" inside the main entrance hall of the station. At this counter, a
policeman will take down your Name and your Destination, and they will charge you based on STANDARD tariff and kms. to your home. The rates here are very reasonable. Note that you pay the driver at the end of the journey.
BUT, the porter will LIE to you, and tell you that the "rapid taxi counter" is closed, and that the "prepaid" taxi is the best. He will try his best to take you to the so-called prepaid taxis. You MUST tell him very strictly, "I do not care. Take me to the rapid counter." And, "surprise", you will find that the counter is OPEN, and the rates there are about 30 to 40% cheaper than the so-called "prepaid" private taxis waiting outside to fleece passengers.

Tip is for: People coming to Bengaluru for some exam/interview etc... and stay in lodges in Majestic area around SBC. Also for Bengalureans who love food and those catching afternoon trains and who would love to have some good non-veg food in the train.
S.G.S Non-veg hotel serves one of the best chicken palavs and is very famous too. The palav is spicy with good sized pieces of chicken served with half a boiled egg, a slice of lemon and some fresh cut onions and cucumber. If you eat there, they serve
it in a
Donne (bowl made from dried leaves). Or you can ask for parcel, which is given in a plastic box at no extra charge. The place is small and you will have to eat standing like in a fast food restaurant.
The timings and cost are in pics. It's better to buy earlier than 1 pm as sometimes it gets over by then (limited preparation being one of the USP). In the evenings they serve kabab and kshatriya (a deep fried chicken item marinated in spices).
For location here is a link click here
For those staying in lodges around Majestic - it is at a walkable distance of around 1.5 Km from the station. Ask for Sowrastrapet or just Gundu Palav hotel or Donne Biryani hotel and people will guide you.
For Bengalureans who are interested to buy this before boarding your train, leave a little early because as you may know this is old Bengaluru with narrow lanes, so getting caught in traffic jam is usual. There is place for bike parking but if you go by auto or car then you need to walk a bit.
For more info and pics - Google search - Gundu Palav, there quite a few reviews and social media pages about this hotel.

This is the Okhalipuram entrance (back entrance) to the station. It is a nicely designed multifunctional complex. It gets you direct entrance to ALL platforms through the trolley pathway (no FOB required), and has direct car parking outside Platform 7 & 8.
Another big plus with this entrance is that there is usually no queue for Unreserved tickets, unlike the main entrance which is always crowded.
