Station code is internal for railway use....at least passengers will in majority will not know. As far as name change to TVC North & TVC South is concerned I feel it is an ok move since many passengers outside of the state didnt particularly know of these stations. Once Nemon terminal becomes operational and more states start from there I feel it will be helpful. But yes probably they could have mentioned it as TVC-Kochuveli or TVC-Nemom to retain the old name as well
Why was the name change for Trivandrum done? Any colonial backroots?
Kanpur is another example whose name was changed but station code remained intact. Most people today won't even recognize the old name of the city, 'Cawnpore' and since it had barracks there, so CNB came from Cawnpore Barracks.Just like PNBE comes from Patna Barracks.
I don't know the real reason but from online source I found out present name is original and Trivandrum was formed and used by British.
Sorry for nitpicking but, PNBE came from Patna Bankipore and not "Barracks".

Thanks boss.... nah WAP-4 was just shunting the train from SBC to the loop line (not PF line) at BNC.... next, KK had the newly dispatched KJM WAP-7 #39419... and last, yes, the iconic stn looks have been removed 😔😔 but some new looks coming up and I'm expecting it to be a massive one.. and geez it was 🥵🥵 as in no shelter.... 👍👍👍
