Rail Neglect
--------------
Despite running premium trains and tall claims of world class catering and wifi in Rajdhanis, IR is yet to make the most basic of passenger amenities - a proper platform for boarding / disembarking carriages without hardship.
Here is a photo of 12245 Duronto waiting at PF 21 of Howrah Jn (HQ of two zonal railways) -- showing the ridiculously low

platform height and the difficulty which a small child / senior citizen has to face while boarding. Even a healthy 5 feet 6 inch adult with luggage will have trouble. And this is PF 21 -- the so-called 'premium' platform for the most prestigous trains.

not only this platform but all of the platforms except pf-23 of the new complex have the same problem. Whereas the platform height of the old complex platforms and pf-23 are just perfect. Don't know why the platform level of the new complex platforms kept so low as these were constructed much later than the old complex.

This photo reminded me of the difficulty my Mother faced while entering into the 2nd AC Coach of this train at HWH. I had to be very cautious helping her to enter into the coach. When it comes to the ICF Coach of a train at Pf 9 or 8 at HWH Stn Old Complex Platform then the gap between the coach flooring and platform is not this huge and my Mother gets in with minimum difficulty. Spending crores of rupees in designing such crap finish platforms smells of a scam... :-p

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
