Salem and Jolarpet stations were informed about the derailment immediately, and the station managers alerted the New Delhi-Trivandrum Kerala Express which passes through the same route at approximately the same time.<br />"The Kerala Express stopped near the accident site around 2am and brought many of the willing passengers to Salem, where they were offered refreshments, opportunity to call their families or recharge their mobile phones," said a Salem division spokesperson.<br />The passengers going towards Namakkal and Karur boarded the Salem-Karur passenger train which departed at 9.10am.<br />Most the passengers in the reserved compartment of the derailed train remained in the train till the restoration of the track was completed. The train reached Salem at 9.30am. <br />The commissioner of railway safety inspected the track and the accident spot on Thursday afternoon.
