The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has threatened to block all trains passing through Dimapur Railway Station in Nagaland. The DNSU threatened to block trains passing through Dimapur Railway Station if the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) do not withdraw its decision to run the Nagaland Express train up to Ledo in Assam and terminate there
Until now, the Nagaland Express used to terminate at Dimapur Railway Station. The DNSU said that this decision of the NF Railways will not only affect the regular passengers, but also the students who move to and fro Dimapur.“This hasty and drastic decision of the NFR would specially affect the students in particular and the people of the State in general, who cannot afford air services and have to

Guwahati/Dibrugarh: Good news for the people residing in both the North and South banks of river Brahmaputra as NFR creates history by its maiden trial journey from Dhamalgaon Railway station (Dibrugarh) to Tangani Rail station (Dhemaji) on Monday.
As per a report, a rail engine with 15 coaches crossed the Bogibeel bridge during its maiden trial journey.
Also, NFR officials claimed it to be a successful run and also stated that the train was run at a speed between 120 and 140 km per hour.
it took less than 10 minutes to cover the 17 km distance between the two stations.
It may be mentioned that the Tangani Rail station is situated on the North bank of the Brahmaputra while the Dhamalgaon Rail station is on the South Bank.
The test was carried out during the inspection of the Bogibeel bridge by the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS).
Reportedly, the inspection team inspected the entire bridge, rail track, road on the bridge and rail track on the north and south bank. Moreover, a detailed speed test will also be done before submitting the fitness certificate. A few other tests will also be carried out before final commissioning of the bridge, informed one of the CRS team members.
The CRS team will also ensure all the safety aspects of the bridge. After getting clearance from the CRS team, the NFR will do the load test on the bridge.
According to railway officials, the entire work on the bridge should be completed by October this year except the Road Over Bridge (ROB) near Dhamalgaon on the south bank.
It needs to be mentioned here that the 4.94-km long Bogibeel Bridge over the Brahmaputra, 17-km downstream of Dibrugarh town is India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge connecting Dibrugarh and Dhemaji.
It may further be mentioned that the Mega Bridge apart from playing a strategic role in defence of the country’s eastern borders, is expected to fast-track the region’s economy.

Jan 15 2016 (08:50)   Dharmanagar likely to be a new Railway Division : Minister

AGARTALA, Jan 14 (TIWN): 'Railway division may be setup at Dharmanagar Tripura in place of Silchar', said Manoj Kumar.
Earlier Tripura had expressed serious resentment over the decision of setting up of separate railway division in Silchar, ignoring the long standing demand of Tripura. Manoj Kumar said today after introduction of Trail BG train service between Agartala and Badarpur in 13th January, the state government had raised the issue of separate railway division and railway recruitment centre in Tripura at least for five times.
The issue has been discussed with Railway minister and
Prime Minister several times besides, Railway Board but it was turned down on the ground that railway-fleet, passenger movement and administrative set up did not permit separate railway division for the state.
About 398 kilometres distance between Lumding and Agartala has a pair of passenger train on regular basis besides service with Silchar and Dharmanagar, north-eastern end of Tripura; moreover, the state is sharing international border situating at the corner, which substantiate the demand of separate railway division. However that the separate railway division and recruitment centre for Tripura is necessary because Agartala is soon connected with Akhaura of Bangladesh and southern entry point of Bangladesh at Feni and people are solely dependent on railway.
The country is having 68 railway divisions and northeast has 5 divisions and all are in Assam. People of Tripura have not objecting the decision of Silchar Railway Division but reiterating the claim for a separate division in Tripura considering it’s locations and communication bottleneck. Earlier the Congress led UPA government has been disrespecting the people of Tripura on political choice keeping aside the welfare norms. On view of Modi’s LOOK East policy people of Tripura demand for Railway Division in Tripura .

Not all the five divisions of nfr are in assam. Only three are in assam- Rangiya, lumding and tinsukia. Rest two i.e alipurduar and katihar are in west bengal and bihar respectively.
Please correct your post.
