Extension of double-decker train service to Kerala: Trial run successful

A trial run for the Coimbatore-KSR Bengaluru Uday Express, which will be extended to Palakkad, was successfully completed on the Coimbatore-Palakkad route on Wednesday. The train, which departed from Coimbatore at 8 AM, arrived in Palakkad Town station at 10:55 AM, later reaching Palakkad Junction station at 11:10 AM. It departed...

from Palakkad at 1:10 PM and returned to Coimbatore at 3:10 PM. The trial run, conducted jointly by the Salem and Palakkad divisions of the Southern Railway, assessed factors like vehicle movement and platform inconveniences. The Uday Express, featuring the first AC double-decker coach, boasts 16 coaches, including 7 double-deckers with a capacity of 120 seats each. Extending the route to Palakkad adds 103.8 km, including a 46 km stretch on the Coimbatore-Pollachi route and a 57.8 km stretch on the Pollachi-Palakkad route. The Uday Express will become the third train to start its journey from Palakkad in the morning and end it at night, alongside the Tiruchendur Express and Nilambur Express. Completion of the pit line works at Palakkad Town railway station will enable more train departures and maintenance. The Bengaluru-Coimbatore Uday Express currently struggles with profitability due to inconvenient schedules for passengers. Adjustments, including departure times from Palakkad, could make the train more beneficial for a wider audience.

pe chala aur 3:10 PM pe Coimbatore wapas aa gaya. Trial run, jo Southern Railway ke Salem aur Palakkad divisions ne jointly kiya tha, isme vehicle movement aur platform pe koi inconveniences hai ya nahi, yeh check kiya gaya. Uday Express mein first AC double-decker coach hai, jisme 16 coaches hain, jisme se 7 double-decker hain aur har coach mein 120 seats hain. Palakkad tak route extend karne se 103.8 km aur add ho jaayenge, jisme se 46 km Coimbatore-Pollachi route pe aur 57.8 km Pollachi-Palakkad route pe hai. Uday Express Palakkad se subah chalta hai aur raat ko end hota hai, yeh teesra train hoga, Tiruchendur Express aur Nilambur Express ke saath. Palakkad Town railway station pe pit line works complete hone se, zyada trains depart kar sakenge aur maintenance bhi easily ho sakegi. Bengaluru-Coimbatore Uday Express abhi profitable nahi hai, kyunki passengers ke liye timings uygun nahi hain. Adjustments, jisme Palakkad se departure times badal dena bhi hai, train ko zyada audience ke liye beneficial bana sakta hai.
