Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has come out with a special tour package for the devotees planning to visit Sabarimala by rail during the Mandala-Makaravilaku pilgrimage season.
Under the seven-day six-night tour package, pilgrims can get an opportunity to first visit the famous Krishna temple at Guruvayur before proceeding to Sabarimala for a darshan of ‘Harihara putra,’ according to IRCTC Vijayawada region Deputy General Manager N.D. Bhujanga Rao. The special train from Hyderabad will run via Nalgonda, Guntur, Prakasam, and Nellore districts on December 19, December 27, and January 7.

On the eve of the millennium birth anniversary of Bhagavat Sri Ramanujacharya, the father of Sri Vaishnava philosophy, the pilgrims will get a chance to visit Srirangam, an important seat of Sri Vaishanvism during the tour, besides the famous Brahadeswarar temple, declared by UNESCO as World Heritage site Thanjavur.
Those interested in flying to Sabarimala from Hyderabad can opt for the special three-day, two-night package, which will be available on December 16 and December 17. The pilgrims can also enjoy a pleasant boat ride on the backwaters in Kerala under the tour package costing Rs. 14,510, besides a visit to Guruvayur.
