Nits 1646 blog postsIf one is travelling all the way to ahmedabad it is better to deboard at maninagar and take an auto as it takes hell lot of time to reach ahmedabad sometimes more than an hour. It always stops on platform at maninagar. If train slows down before maninagar start moving towards loco from internal vestibule and deboard on platform.
WR Official have orders from railway board that all train must be slowed down at Maninagar. Last saturday I talked with LP of 12934.
May be that's an order but is it also mentioned that it should take an hour from vatwa to ahmedabad? The tte of dd said its due to level crossing at maninagar
From MAN u can Easily get Transport system Like BRTS to go anywhere in AHmedabad.
You cannot depend on that, as there is no scheduled halt at MAN; it slows down considerably and lot of people deboard (a huge risk though!). Usually, it reaches MAN by 21:10 and is given a longish halt there.
they do have . it starts from 0 and then they match the fare with the distance travelled . they also carry a fare chart with them.
yes, but there is a difference between the meters available in Mumbai and those in Ahmedabad:
1) The meters have analog display shown by a dial (kinda like reading a gauge) rather than the digital display that you get in Mumbai (and indeed in many other major cities)
2) The gauge is situated in the front of the rickshaw, where driver sits unlike other places where the display is located in middle, allowing both the passenger as well as the driver to easily see the reading.

keyurdd 5 blog postsHad a pretty bad experience on this train. Arrived at Borivali 1 hour late and was late by over 2 hours when it reached Vadodara. Seating is too crammed. Moreover, we were allotted the lower deck which is just above the wheels and so noisier than what one would expect in an AC coach. Double decker was a big let down and would suggest not to opt for this train unless it is the only train available. Can go by Karnavati/ Garib Rath instead
another demerit of this train is that the luggage rack so small that it cannot accommodate any big size luggage
What you are saying is true for all double decker Ac trains in India. Your posting is a good reminder to people. It is also true that passengers have been facing the same situation since 2011 in double decker trains

their is a big reason behind it...the concept was introduced to increase seating capacity and to provide journey in the busiest routes...but the reason by which it is failed is its type...seats should have been good...
Passengers as before taking WL's and managed to travel, after intro of DD somewhat adjusted but now they again are taking WL's in older trains...thus DD fails...
Seats should be same as Shatabi's have to increase its priority...

that is the reason one train on PUNE CSTM root having double decks was abandoned. But now AC is attraction for 'comfort seeking' people. and IR makes money with 'Large Hauling of Public'
DD was a good but poorly executed project. Ideally it should have been designed to replace the ordinary Shatabdi coaches on high density routes like Mumbai - Ahmadabad, Delhi - Amritsar/Kalka/Chandigarh/Lucknow.
The concept should have been to simply double the carriage capacity without a problem instead of running it as a separate train.

The route is profitable. BCT-ADI Route is always in demand. But it doesn't makes any sense to run this DD behind Karnavati(Which remains the first choice for day time passengers). Though now the patronage of this DD is increased.
That is what i am saying. Running the DD behind Karnavati is a waste. Instead the coaches of the DD should be used on the high demand Ahmedabad Shatabdi & ofcourse if the Shatabdi runs on Sunday then it will be the most profitable train on the route.
I used to run up & Down from Surat for a couple of years & the Karnavati in the morning and Shatabdi in the evening were the most popular trains on the route. Since the DD does not run on Sunday, those coaches could be used on the Shatabdi timings & everyone would be happy.

If you travel by this train please see to it that you dont have any large size luggage because the luggage rack of this train is small and this train runs full throughout the the year, so you won't have any space to keep your large size luggage.
In spite of that, I have seen people carrying oversized luggage. When it doesn't fit above, they block the aisles, greatly inconveniencing others.
