Who cares about the route ? We're talking about time duration here. Vande Bharat can very well go to Pune, Bengaluru etc. if it wants but if it's taking less time it'll be useful to Mangalureans.
Buses are taking 20 Hours already, anything less in form of train would be appreciated, anything with even Chair Car Seating taking 6 hours less than Buses would be a boon.
Occupancy of extended version can't be worse than it already is in the "short circuit criteria fitting" route here.

Something is better than nothing.
During the proposed introduction of First Vande Bharat to Varanasi, people were raging like "No one would sit for 8 Hours after paying Premium Fares" , "Train will fail", "People will instead go for Overnights" and now see, there's a 2nd Vande Bharat running in Opposite Timings with Waiting List occupancy. People even traveled in a 12 Hour New Delhi Patna Vande Bharat Special- same train would return for Festive Season again.
One has to be flexible enough to change, demands define criteria- it's NOT the other way round.

All it takes is Political Influence and even Vaishali Express gets extended to Saharsa, Sampoorna Kranti gets Mirzapur halt, Sealdah Duronto gets extended to Bikaner with extra rake that doesn't get filled by Bikaner even during festive seasons and Agartala Rajdhani gets diverted via Bhagalpur.
Upar se Order aayega toh CR jhak maar ke Rake degi.
Running an 8 Coacher Train and 14 Coacher Train Back to Back eating up Slot in KR is sheer wastage of resources. Madgaon Vande Bharat can easily be 16 Coacher and Tejas can be 22 Coacher.

far as demand in reverse is concerned, same thing was said for Reverse Vande Bharat from Varanasi and Katra in Morning, you can verify occupancy. Goa Route is not all about Tourists, there are cities in Maharashtra whose people would like to reach Mumbai during Daytime to complete Tasks or catch other trains. I know because I know plenty of them myself.
Let's see all of this discussion is a moot point anyway, all that matters is what Politicians think.

Don't divert the members of this forum from the topic and stick to the figures concerned with this route. No use comparing all India statistics which is not at all related to the forum. CR does not require to extend the MAO VB to MAQ for an empty run as it is running in full occupancy along with MAO Jan Shatabdi & Tejas. it will not be surprising to revoke the MAQ VB if it cannot perform and introduce it as 2nd VB on MAO CSMT route sharing same time slots as MAO VB.

how do you 'base' it ? Buses don't follow Goa Route. Who cares ? You're not able to understand the basic need behind the debate. If a person is reaching his destination faster who gives a hoot about which route he takes, the person clearly don't.
Answers will be with examples from India since you're the one stating "CC VBs were introduced on short sectors throughout the country"- I cannot help if you're not able to understand what you're saying.
You say "Losing dedicated CSMT MAO VB is not my concern" but that is clearly your basic concern.

Of course, if political pressure comes over surely CR will handout the rakes to KR but my POV was from CR itself giving it to which they won't. Also, even I said the same thing /blog/post/5975585 "mostly tourists but locals and MH people too" in the sense December to Feb alot of tourists take day service be it VB Or Tejas but after the season ends it is mostly MH people using it and tiny contribution from locals and tourists from then on.
Coming to VB I just wanted extension of MAQ VB so be it a merger with MAO-CSMT or MAQ-CSMT, both will work out for me and I didn't say that MAQ should run with 16 coaches Vande Bharat

Just count from February 2019 till February 2024, SER hardly got 12 to 14 new trains of which mostly r MEMU trains. Not counting any passing train over SER. Look at the increasing demand in SER, increased more than 100%.
SER KGP division and Adra Division is most neglected, got hardly 7 new trains (most due to other zone llike ECOR) and mostly r MEMU trains in last 5 years. Adra division doesn't get new trains and many already running trains got cancelled. SER KGP Division Stopped getting long distance express trains in last few years. After a long gap got only 1 express train SHM-BMPR Exp and 2 VB and that too is not a long distance Express
