If u r planning just 1day pilgrimage. Mathura can serve at best in short span too. Even if ur train gets delayed or u are able to reach mtj at 10, dnt worry u can go for almost major temples in that time.
Instead of asking from auto guys or take guide, follow these plan to utilise the day at best.
+++ If coming by train to Mtj, at 9:30 or 10am+++

1. From station take an auto to Bhooteshwar for 10rs/head from there get an auto to janmabhoomi for rs5 or can walk too. OR directly hire a cyclerickshaw for rs 20/head.
.
2. It will be 12 till the time u'll get free frm Janmabhoomi. And all temples will be closed.
.
3. Take cycle rickshaw to Vishram ghat or get an auto to Vrindavan of rs 15/head. If going to vishram ghat, u'll have to return to Janmabhoomi for auto to Vrindavan. U can have very nice boating experience at Yamuna there.
.
4. After reaching Vrindavan(Bihariji Auto stand), take a cycle rickshaw of 35 to 50rs for 2, and ask him for "NidhiVan". U can walk also. When u'll reach there, go to Yamuna ghat and have pleasant boating experience, they will ask 150 to 250rs, bt stick to 40-60only for two. Enjoy ur lunch there at dhabas.
.
5.After it go to Nidhivan where Lord krishna had "Maharaas",
.
6.From Nidhi van u can take cycle rickshaw or can walk to "Rangji Temple, based on South Indian style". Its at walking distance, many people will guide u the way.
.
7. It will be around 4:30 or 5 till u come out frm Rangji temple, take an auto or tonga or cycle rickshaw (30 for 2) to Banke Bihari ji.
.
8. After visiting there take an auto frm auto stand(5/head) to Iskcon temple.
.
9. After Iskcon go to amazingly built and love at 1st sight, "Prem Mandir"., which is at 10min walk frm Iskcon.
.
10. After coming out from Prem Mandir, cross the road. Take an auto to "NH2 or Chhatikara or Durga mata temple", 10/head.
.
11. Visit the temple, its really pleasing (visit time 1hr max)
.u'll finish all these till 9 max.
.
12. After it, come to high way, get an auto 15/head to goverdhan chauraha.
Frm there at left side take an auto to new bus stop or station
if going to delhi or agra by bus take buses frm goverdhan chauraha only. Or catch ur train at 10:30 or 11.
PS: Timings changes a bit in Mathura temples. If u'll arrive early u can take train early too. Or visit more places.
