The Narrow Gauge Movie, Satpura Railways, Indian Railways.
.
Welcome to Satpura Railways, The 1000kms of 2ft 6inch narrow gauge once embedded in dense ranges of satpura, is now at the brink of extinction(For Broad Gauge Conversion). This Railways were essentially built in British Colonial times to facilitate low cost travel and transportation in Satpura region comprising of districts of Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Maharashtra. from Nagpur to Chhindwara to Nainpur to Jabalpur, Nainpur to Balaghat, Nainpur to Mandla Fort and in the south from Nagpur to Nagbhir to Chanda Fort.

Satpura narrow gauge lines, developed by the Bengal Nagpur Railway, connected Jabalpur with Gondia, Mandla Fort, Chhindwara and Nagpur. Nainpur was the focal point of the network and was even bestowed with the prestige of being a divisional headquarters for some time. The lines came up in the early years of the 20th century. The extensive network of 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) gauge tracks measured just over 1,000 km.
BNR signed a contract with Government for the Narrow
Gauge Satpura Railway (2’-6”) on 23rd January 1902 for constructing Gondia-Jabalpur,
Nainpur-Mandla Fort, Nainpur-Seoni-Chhindwara lines. The sections were opened for
the traffic as follows :
Gondia- Nainpur 1903
Nainpur-Chhindwara 1904
Nainpur-Jabalpur 1905
Chhindwara-Pench Coal Fields 1906-07
Nainpur-Mandla Fort 1909
Out of these sections, the narrow gauge section of Jabalpur Nainpur survived till 31st October 2015 and Chhindwara-Nainpur, Nagpur Chhindwara, Balaghat nainpur survived till 30th November 2015. The sections are now closed for Gauge conversion to Broad Gauge,
These sections hosted a connection with nature, simplicity. The 700HP ZDM classes of locos were rulers of this section, would be remembered by their tireless service towards Bengal Nagpur Railway, South Eastern Railway, South East Central Railway, Indian Railways.
My compilation is a tribute to this section, which has aided the lives of people who strive here for over a century. It includes various stills from Chhindwara Nagpur section, a parallel run, Ghat climbing, Narrow Gauge engine cranking, sections in Satpura express. crossings and lot more
Trip Credits to Railfans Amol Nikam, Anshul Vipat, Arpit Dubey, Chetan Puranik, Himanshu Sharma, Rajesh Mishra and Shivkumar Mishra, for Joining on this 3 days and ton of experience.
Enjoy the ride through Heritage Satpura Railways.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
