AURANGABAD: The Marathwada Railway Vikas Samiti on Saturday said the railways should ensure a new route along the Rotegoan-Kopargaon stretch ahead of Saibaba's Samadhi centenary celebrations in 2018.
"The state should meets the demand for the new rail line as a large number of devotees will visit Shirdi on Saibaba's Samadhi centenary celebrations," Marathwada Railway Vikas...

He said Railway authorities should lay the much-needed rail route, which will be technically feasible, cost-effective and provide respite to thousands of devotees visiting Shirdi.
Verma said, "The survey of the new route should be conducted well before December 2016 so that the actual work of laying the tracks could begin in 2017. Technically, this project should be successful as the route would bypass Manmad station. Trains passing through Aurangabad will reach Shirdi fast. At present, the trains have to pass through Manmad. It's a longer route."
The association also said the Railways should meet the long-pending demands of Solapur-Paithan-Aurangabad-Ajanta route at the earliest.
"In 2000, a survey was conducted for a rail route in the Aurangabad region. Those surveys revealed that these projects will be very expensive and a bridge will have to be constructed on Godavari River. We believe there is no need for a survey for the same routes again. The authorities should rather focus on conducting a survey and laying new line between Rotegoan and Kopargaon," he said.
