The blogger seems to be confused about the Junction status to any particular station. It is given to a station from where more than one railway routes exist and thus more than one train routes from that Jn. station.
From Surat, it is true thats you get trains for Vadodara / Ahmedabad / Delhi, Mumbai and Bhusaval / Howrah / Chennai but they all run on single route till the particular jn. station. Eg. From Surat, Bhusaval / Howrah / Chennai trains...
more... change the route from Udhna station and that is why Udhna is a Jn. From Surat > Delhi , Amritsar, Jammu trains change the route from Vadodara and that is why Vadodara is a Jn.
