Why despite our best efforts IRI is not getting recognition what it deserves.
Why IRI is not getting as much popularity as some other blogs like IRFCA
Pls give some suggestion to make IRI topmost site of world.
All members are invited to give suggestion. Positive criticism also welcome. We should all try to make it best.

Yes organizatn can be better on iri

-IRFCA has many tech related information which IRI lacks.
-Some of the gallery pic of IRFCA are so good, they have pics of very old tt, old lines, trains, locomotives, which are very well organised. One can easily find such TT, old trains pics easily. While in IRI, gallery is just sorted in name of trains and pics are random.
-Moreover IRFCA, encourages only your own pics. Not every member can add pic to gallery, they can update only to forum.
-IRFCA
...
is more structured and organised than IRI. And no unwanted fights are encourage in IRFCA, while in IRI it is common
-And their annual meet is another plus point.
These are some points, which i believe, where IRFCA is better than IRI
I am not an active member in IRFCA, but active in IRI. I felt these is where IRI lags.
-IRI on other hand is better in term of discussion(but sometime discussion goes in wrong way, which need to be controlled by FM).
But i feel IRI and IRFCA should go hand in hand, there should not be a competition between two.

IRI is highly recognised among common man (the website traffic illustrates this).
-
IRI is best in terms of information dissemination. Internet novices, common man use IRI for train search. Being upto date with specials and giving minute information as to which PF the train usually comes to is very handy for these common people, where many board in intermediate stations with halting time as little as a minute.
Personally
...
also it's a boon to UR passengers say like in crowded station like SMET, where lot of people stand at one end of PF to board UR coaches in the rear, but with IRI one can easily learn that more UR coaches are in front of 16228.
Hence to cater to this large volume of non-member traffic many activities are related to info update than say technical discussions.
-
Personally as someone who is interested in knowing the development of different infrastructure projects of our country, this site gives a lot of updates on rail projects than other websites put together give including traditional media. There were few sites which used to update on road/rail projects of certain states but after some time they became dormant. Its only here we see new stations, lines, electrification projects update.
-
I am not aware of the ownership of other websites but here it's one person. So one has to depend on him for all new features and changes. Just a filter of this site's forum with the tag "site suggestion" shows how many suggestions are being given but how many are 'replied to' let alone implemented.
-
Blatant misuse of the site needs to be avoided.
Like few members post their videos and ask us to subscribe to their channel; but then when we question or request some info like what is the status of this project/line, no reply. This site is used as an eyeball cornering place for their own blog/flickr/YT channels. One can easily discern such members with a view of their profile with a lot of posts but very little replies.
A feature like how many ratings have they given to others will truly "out" them. They just come here post their stuff and off they go. Like overlords whose little glimpse is what we were waiting for :)
-
Annual meet would be great. A truly bonding exercise and will build the camaraderie among members. But all this like other site suggestions may not be looked into :)

IRI & IRFCA are two completely different thinks. IRI is somewhat a Railway Enquiry type Forum where you will get every minute detail pertaining to a train like Avg. speed, passing station, coach composition and even the route map on which the train travels to it's destination whereas IRFCA is like a encyclopedia of Indian Railways. Both forum varies in terms of their members too, IRI has members across all age groups with varying educational qualifications from a 16 year old 10th class student to a 60 year old well qualified mature guy you will find all these here on IRI. I must say IRFCA is not that much cosmopolitan, there you can't even post a News article in Hindi or any other Regional language. In Bollywood language, IRI is like Salman Khan whereas IRFCA is kinda Nawazuddin Siddiqui of this field. Both have their own charisma, their own mass appeal...

so it's not fair to compare them both. When you have to find the arrival/departure history, Coach Composition etc. of any train you will approach IRI not IRFCA. I myself is a member of both but I find IRI more appealing than IRFCA. This is what personally I think, others may have different view.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
