GG's original avatar was as a Gadag-Solapur express/passenger (not clear if it was a passenger or express). In 1972, it was extended to Hubli, and Golgumbaz express was inaugurated as a overnight express between Hubli and Solapur.
From December 16th, 1983, Golgumbaz was extended to Bangalore. It used to be a day-time ICE between SBC-UBL and an overnight between UBL-SUR. (Train number 6541/42). After GC of SBC-UBL section, initially the Chalukya was introduced, and GG continued running with the numbers 7841/42 on the MG section between Gadag and Bijapur, with more or less the same schedule as earlier i.e., ONT between GDG-BJP (Though it no longer carried the name officially). The full-fledged train was reintroduced in 2009 after the complete

Thanks sir. So Chalukya is not 2012 as given in IRI, but late 1990s after SBC-UBL GC.

August 22nd, 1996, inaugurated by H.D.Deve Gowda. It was named as Chalukya express from July 1st, 2000. Actually I remembered that because an article very similar to the article you shared came up at that time. At that time too there were demands for restoration of the MG Mahalakshmi and merge it with the BG Mahalakshmi (KOP-CSTM) and give a dedicated SBC-CSTM train. But the BG train was already running to KOP and it wasn't possible to merge it without KOP losing the train. So, a new tri-weekly dedicated train was started for SBC in a slightly different slot.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
