While on my way back in Mumbai Mail from Howrah to Durg last week, me and my father were having a conversation with the TTE. As per him, CDO at Santragachi will be shifted to ABB and new lines will be constructed between SRC and ABB. He also told that the construction work and flyover being made at ABB are for the CDO and new lines between SRC and ABB. SRC will be developed as a full fledged terminal and the lines between PFs 1,2,3 and 4,5,6 will be dismantled for construction of new platforms. He also said that almost all long distance trains will be shifted to Santragachi while all Intercity Trains, EMUs and MEMUs will continue departing from Howrah. Is this true? Am asking this because construction work is going on at ABB and they are building a flyover and what seems a yard there.

Coach yard construction is going on at Abada. All SER trains will be maintained there. A flyover and more tracks are to be completed by this or the next year. This way, SRC-HWH section could be decongested to fasten approach to Howrah.
The coach yard will have all modern facilities for LHB and ICF maintenance. The area is huge to keep atleast 20-22 rakes(1st phase). By 2020 we can get a good practical test of it.
