after about 2 cancellations,1 indefinite postponement and 3 immediate postponements...finally the much awaited kolkata meet took place after about three months of its initial planning...and all i can say,it was worth the wait...the time being set at4pm,proved to be good and all of us assembled at pre fixed point at hwh...it ws a pleasure for me,as it ws my first ever meet of any railfans...the first one i could recognize ws our evergreen weather beaten ever smiling senior citizen pkv sir,in a bright yellow eye catching short shirt(proving that a man's age is determined by his thought process and enthusiasm rather by the number of candles he blows),then beside him was young and energetic arkya chatterjee and later joined cool and vibrant souvik(wrik).pkv sir's humour,arkya's rail knowledge and wrik's passion and simplicity,apart from attitude and care free approach made the evening indeed memorable...the ones to miss out were sabya sir(out...

of station),gaurav hwh(last minute engagements) and sayantan sinha(unfortunately out of town and all work no play for him)...as we all knew each other by our scrren names,hence it ws a fun introducing myself as broad gauge...we went to hwh rail museum,then to dankuni to catch high speed sdah duronto action...and then finally to dumdum to catch evening atmosphere of weekend of the busiest sub urban station in eastern railways...pics and videos will soon follow...

minutes halt at Kanchurgachi Road cabin (outers). At the adjacent Narkeldanga car shed, empty rake of Sealdah- Lalgola Passenger and the shunting 12343 Sealdah- New Jalpaiguri/ Haldibari DARJEELING Superfast Mail headed by a BGA (Beliaghata) WDS- 6R is seen. As we pull into the platform after crossing the Circular Canal, a light WAP-4 (which pulled the 12988 Ajmer- Sealdah Superfast Express), a slight view of the departing 13149 Sealdah- Alipuar Duar KANCHAN KANYA Express, and an EMU is spotted.
My question is, why would two locos be attached to a 10 coach rake, that too running on a non-gradient section, and without an aggressive schedule??? Both the locos were quite active, and more surprisingly, both the locos had LPs within..
Btw, the train uses the Rampurhat- Sainthia- Bolpur Shantiniketan- Burdwan- Bandel- Naihati- Barrackpore- Dum Dum- Sealdah route.
On the journey, giving me company was my IRI Admin friend Souvik Da..

Twins aren't required but interestingly, a WDM-2A was too attached. this seems that WDM-2A had some faults but still it was being run with WDM-3A ahead to test perhaps.
