As the Konkan Railway was not yet constructed, the train was earlier running between Mangalore and Delhi in a roundabout route. Since the train was running till Mangalore, the name Mangala was derived from Mangaladevi, the most important deity of Mangalore city. Once the Konkan route was completed, this train was diverted via the Konkan. Later, This train was extended to Ernakulam Junction.
2. Kerala Express
Kerala Express is the longest running daily Superfast Express Train in India that runs between Thiruvananthapuram and New Delhi (TVC - NDLS) covering a distance of 3028 KM.
The 24 Coach legendary train connects the South most India to Nations Capital. The train takes 50 Hours and 30 Minutes to cover the total distance.
