Double Line between Guntakal and Kalluru for a distance of 41 Route Kms has been completed along with electrification in all respects. Commissioner, Railway Safety has inspected this electrified Double Line and has given certification as fit to run passenger train services with immediate effect. Since the potential of the existing line is improved by strengthening the track along with flattening of almost 20 curves existing in the section, the maximum speed with which the trains can be operated is enhanced from 70 Kmph to 100 Kmph. This enabled to run all types of passenger services with electric traction in this vital rail line which acts as bypass line for the trains bound to south direction from northern areas and vice-versa.
The 41 km rail line between Guntakal- Kalluru is an important by-pass rail line connecting the main line in which trains from Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad are run towards Bengaluru. It was earlier a single line with trains running on diesel traction. In order to improve the mobility of train operations and also to strengthen the infrastructural facilities the Zone has proposed for doubling and electrification of this vital rail link. Accordingly, work was sanctioned in the year 2015-16 with an estimated cost of Rs. 357 Crore.
The Project was completed in different phases viz., Doubling of section between Khadarpet - Gullapalyamu, Electrification of entire single line, doubling between Guntakal - Gullapalyamu, Doubling between Khadarpet - Kalluru and finally electrification of Second line. With this, one more significant step has been taken towards fulfilling the dreams of Rayalaseema people to have better rail connectivity and more number of trains.
The section between Guntakal and Kalluru is the most accessible shortest route to many important cities of southern states, from where railway lines going towards Hyderabad, Raichur, Bellary, Hubli, Goa and the National capital New Delhi. Iron ore and other bulk commodities such as cement, steel etc., are being moved on this route to North and South directions.
Guntakal Division Officials along with Construction department have played key role in successful completion of the project. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR has congratulated all the Officials and staff involved in completion of this vital project of Rayalaseema region. He opined that completion of this project has paved way for smooth and timely running of freight trains as well as enhancement of passenger train services. Source:SCR FB

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
