Election Issue: हिमाचल में हेरिटेज रेल ट्रैक जस के तस, नई लाइनों की रफ्तार धीमी

The expansion of the Kalka-Shimla heritage railway line and the conversion of the Kangra Valley narrow-gauge railway to broad gauge have been long-standing promises made by politicians during elections in Himachal Pradesh. However, despite these promises, neither project has seen any progress. The Kalka-Shimla line, built by the British in 1903,...

has not been extended by even an inch in the last 121 years. While it used to reach the old bus stand in Shimla, it now stops a kilometer short. Similarly, the Kangra Valley Railway, which runs through the foothills of the Dhauladhar range and includes tourist spots like Palampur tea gardens, Bajreshwari Mata Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, and Baijnath Shiva Temple, has been stalled since 2016 when the Chakki Bridge near Pathankot collapsed. While the railway board has restored service between Kangra and Jogindernagar, the line to Pathankot remains closed. Local residents and politicians alike acknowledge the importance of these projects and emphasize the need for their completion. The existing MP, Kishan Kapoor, has raised the issue in Parliament and secured funding for the Kangra Valley Railway. However, the projects remain stalled despite numerous promises and budget allocations.

Himachal mein har election mein, center waale bahut saare vaade karte hain. Sabse bada vaada Kalka-Shimla World Heritage Railway line ka vistar ka hota hai, lekin kabhi hua nahi. Solan aur Shimla mein ye line bahut jaruri hai, Shimla, Kasauli, kufri, Chail, aur tourist spots ke liye aur Solan ke BBN...

mein industrial area ke liye bhi. 121 saal baad bhi, Kalka-Shimla line mein ek inch ka bhi vistar nahi hua. 1903 mein British ne 96.6 km ki line banayi thi. Pehle Shimla ke purane bus stand tak jaati thi, ab ek km pehle hi ruk jaati hai. Aise hi Kangra Valley Railway, Dhauladhar ke pahad ke niche se jaati hai, jahan Palampur ke chai bagan, Bajreshwari Mata Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, aur Baijnath ka Shiv temple bhi hai, woh 2016 se band hai, jab Pathankot ke paas Chakki Bridge tut gaya. Rail Board ne Kangra aur Jogindernagar ke beech ki service chalu ki hai, lekin Pathankot ki service band hi hai. Log aur politicians bhi iske jaruri hone ki baat karte hain, aur isko pura karne ki maang karte hain. Mujawara MP Kishan Kapoor ne Parliament mein is issue ko uthaya aur Kangra Valley Railway ke liye fund bhi mila hai, lekin project abhi bhi band hi hai, itne saare vaadon aur budget aane ke baad bhi.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
