Sharing my experience on this train.
Travel date: Monday, 11th Oct'10 (NDLS-NJP).
Punctuality: The train was punctual almost on all the stations between NDLS & NJP.
Cleanliness (all classes): Floors were being mopped regularly. Windows were clean. Berths were clean but not well maintained as some Gurad rails on 'upper' berths were missing and observed sign of wear & tear....
more... Curtains are in bad condition as they are too old & need replacement. Many of the utility stands (wall tables) and bottle holders were missing. Reading lights (2AC) were NOT functioning properly.
TOILETS: Although cleaning staffs were allocated to clean toilets in-route, but due to insufficient stoppage time, all coaches were not being attended. This resulted into stinky toilets in few coaches.
FOOD: Nice & warm food served. Good in taste, sufficient in quantity. Pantry staffs were even asking for refills, if anybody wanted. Multiple items were also made available on request. I took Non-veg Conti in dinner and again a couple of Paratha with Egg curry. Tipped them nicely ;)
I observed a very frequent question on this train's blog section - "is lunch provided after departure from NDLS at 14 hrs"? Answer is YES.
TECHNICAL:
NDLS - BJU (Barauni) hauled by WAP4 GZB.
BJU - NJP (and the loco carried on ahead as I got off at NJP) hauled by WDP4 Siliguri.
2 no. of EOG (one at each end). 2 hot pantry cars.
All of the above info also applies to my return journey on 2423A (NJP-NDLS) 16th Oct.
