Firstly, cancel your husband's ticket. It is not a valid ticket in the first place because if YOU don't do that the TTE will anyway declare it illegal so no point hoping against hope.
Second, a 'a-ticket-from-the-station' won't do. Strictly speaking even the W/L 23 won't do but you can negotiate if you have the latter.
Do NOT cancel the ticket that's under YOUR name. That assures you at least one confirmed seat.

Ladies can book accommodation under this quota if they full fill the criteria.
1.1 In some trains reservation quota of 6 sleeper class berths has also been earmarked which can be booked by ladies irrespective of age and also even if two or more ladies are travelling together. No any special form format is prescribed for reservation. Ordinary reservation requisition form will be used to book seats.
