If you avoid rush for buying general ticket privet ticket counters (Railway approved Agency's) available at both side of station they charged Rs.1/- per ticket extra for service .
Additional info: If u are coming from Parade, the nearest counter is at Moolganj crossing & other counters are there en route station on the left in Badshahi Naka. The last counter in city side is just adjacent to the iconic Ghanta Ghar.
Four more counters in my knowledge First is jarib chow(Opposite old cwoanpoor tannery gate) ,Second Gumti No 5(Chimmam lal market) ,third Rawatpoor (at Near Gutayia Crossing) and forth is in front of Kanpur railway station cantt side gate(Near Cycle stand)
