Guys my first post here!
Me and my friend have an event at Sastra Univ. Thanjavur on 22nd Feb, which would get over at about 6 pm. The issue is, we stay in Secunderabad, and I have the SC-Shalimar Weekly AC Express to catch on 24th morning, as I have another event in Kolkata.
How do we get back from Thanjavur to Secunderabad, preferably by 23rd, so that I am sure of boarding the SC-Shalimar AC Express?

Welcome to IRI Sriraj.
The quickest route that comes to mind is Thanjavur-Chennai-Vijaywada-Secundrabad which involves changing two trains. But 22nd being a Sunday, its very difficult to get a reservation on a Thanjavur-Chennai overnight train. But if you can work that out through Tatkal, you can then take the Jan Shatabdi/Coromandel exp to Vijaywada from Chennai on Monday morning and then the 4 pm train from there to reach your city by 10 pm.
There is a direct train though from Thanjavur to HYD but that leaves Thanjavur a good 2...

Welcome to IRI...Things look little tough as most of the weekly trains only cater to your need and unfortunately they are not matching well with your requirement. The best one i suggest is RMM-BBS Exp on Sunday afternoon which will drop you at Vijayawada on Monday morning from where you have good number of trains to secunderabad. See if it holds good for you.
