कोलकाता से अमृतसर तक चलने वाले साप्ताहिक ट्रेन 12357-12358 दुर्गयाना एक्सप्रेस 19 अगस्त से सासाराम स्टेशन पर भी ठहरेगी। स्थानीय सांसद छेदी पासवान की पहल पर रेलवे बोर्ड ने ट्रेन ठहराव की मंजूरी दे दी है। ट्रेन ठहराव की स्वीकृति का पत्र रेलवे बोर्ड के संयुक्त निदेशक हर¨वदर ¨सह ने जारी किया है।
पत्र में संयुक्त निदेशक ने कहा है कि स्थानीय सांसद द्वारा 12 जून 2017 को ट्रेन ठहराव सुनिश्चित करने संबंधी मांग पत्र के आलोक में उक्त ट्रेन की ठहराव सासाराम में 19 अगस्त से की जाती है। प्रयोग के तौर पर यह आदेश छह माह के लिए प्रभावी होगा। सप्ताह में दो दिन चलने वाली इस ट्रेन से लोगों को अंबाला, लुधियाना, जालंधर व अमृतसर जाने में बहुत हद

तक सहूलियत होगी। विभागीय सूत्रों की मानें तो अप में यह ट्रेन मंगलवार व शनिवार व डाउन में मंगलवार व शुक्रवार को सासाराम पहुंचेगी। सांसद के अलावा सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता कुंदन कुमार ने भी इस ट्रेन की ठहराव सासाराम में करने के लिए कई बार रेलवे बोर्ड के अधिकारियों से संपर्क स्थापित किया था।
बताते चलें कि सांसद ने इस वर्ष 12 जून को रेल मंत्री को पत्र भेज सासाराम में दुर्गयाना एक्सप्रेस के अलावा हावड़ा- नई दिल्ली राजधानी, हावड़ा जैसलमेर एक्सप्रेस, हावड़ा लालकुआं एक्सप्रेस, भुवनेश्वर- आनंद विहार एक्सप्रेस के ठहराव तथा बरवाडीह- डेहरी पैसेंजर व गया- धनबाद डेहरी पैसेंजर का परिचालन विस्तार सासाराम से करने की मांग की थी।

Oh My God! They are hell bent on ruining this beauty! Has Sasaram grown to be some major city in the last 20 years? Back in the 80s and 90s, NOT A SINGLE SUPERFAST used to halt here except for Kalka Mail. Deluxe (now Poorva), Neelanchal, Purshottam, Chambal, Shipra, all of them used to be merrily skip this station without even missing a heartbeat. I guess the day is not far when the Rajdhanis/Durontos will halt here as well :-( :-(

Sir, I thought of informing you on Social Media but you are already over here. It seems that Durgiana Express has started going the Himgiri Express way on the Grand Chord Route. This train and may be the Howrah/Sealdah - New Delhi Duronto and/or Rajdhani Express may start getting stoppages at Sasaram, Dehri-On-Sone, Babhua Road, Parasnath, NSCB Gomoh and what not!!

Board is a toothless body since it comes under the Ministry of a Central Govt of which the Sasaram Honorable MP is a part (although not directly within the Central Govt). If the board disapproves SSM stoppage for 12357/12358 then their Senior Officers may get transferred, demoted or worse, sacked from their jobs (technically they'll be asked to Resign from their posts or go on a long leave)! I feel like crying you see -_- :'(

Memorable Skips of the 12219 Duronto Exp. (July 19-20, 2017) : This was my first trip on a premier all-AC train from Mumbai to Secunderabad and I was mighty excited about it. Due to loco failure of a train ahead (LTT-CBE), we were 1 hour 50 mts. late at Pune but a cracking run, thereafter, allowed us to recover nearly 50 minutes till Wadi. Pune to Wadi was covered in just 5 hours 20 mts with an impressive average speed of 77 kmph.

said that the foundation stone of the project will be laid next month during the official visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present during the "Bhoomi Poojan".  The bullet train will run at the speed of 320 km per hour, will match the speed of the leading highspeed train systems across the world.
A 508-km stretch between Ahmedabad-Mumbai will be entirely elevated that will save railways' hassles of legal and environmental delays, owing to land acquisition.
Prabhu in a debate in the Lok Sabha in May last year, had said the government had managed to secure a soft loan of Rs 1 lakh crore from Japan at a mere 0.1% interest.
"The technology to be used for bullet trains will help improve the services of normal trains and the integration of signalling system," Prabhu had said.
In February, a Railway Board document had stated that the Board wants two bullet train services on Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor. First, train from BKC with only three stops, namely, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad). Second, train from BKC with 10 stops, namely, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad. 
The estimated time for the train with three halts is two hours seven minutes to reach the final destination, which is Sabarmati near Ahmedabad. While, the train with 10 hours is expected to touch Sabarmati in two hours 58 minutes.

On the subject of bullet trains, I recently went on a week-long trip to Japan with family and had an opportunity to travel on the Shinkansen (Hikari 523) from Odawara to Shin-Osaka. It was mind-boggling to see how they run 175+ mph trains at intervals of 3 minutes at clockwork precision. And this includes overtakes that happen precisely to the second. This is Japanese precision at its furious best. Please take a look at their timetable for Tokyo to Osaka trains and beyond: click here
The Nozumi has the least amount of stops followed by the Hikari. Then there is Kodama halting at all stations - a passenger bullet train :-)
