About a year back,I alongwith my family visited Shirdi. On return I got my reservation done Ex Kopargaon to Nizamuddin with boarding at Manmad from Karnataka Exp Since I was having reservation Ex.Kopargaon,I thought that I may board itself at Kopargaon because I paid fare to Railway authority from KPG to NZM.
Soon after boarding at KPG,a gang of 03 or 04 ticket checkers came to me & told that I am not entitled to board this train from KPG and therefore I have to pay penalty of Rs.500/-per person+fare from KPG to MMR,considering all of us as 'WITHOUT TICKETS', but simultaneously they(the TCs)told me to pay atleast Rs.500/-as bribe to escape from the burden of huge amount.Afraid from them & since I
was not having the good knowlege about the Railways,I paid Rs 500/-all TCs dropped at Manmad & we all were happy.
Now some questions still remain unanswered in my mind :
1) Were gang of TCs right in their action ?
2) If they were right then why Railway issued ticket me from KPR to NZM & collected the fare
from me.
3) As a lay man I can only say that Railway should have allowed me to board at KPR but birth entitlement should have been from the boarding point i,e MMR.
Pls remove my doubts if I am wrong in my interpretation in (3) above and advise me also for all my future 'HAPPY JOURNEY' with Railways.
Best Regards,

If a passenger desires to occupy reserved accommodation from any station enroute, he would be permitted to entrain at any intermediate station he chooses irrespective of the distance from the starting station subject to the following conditions :
1.A specific request must be made in writing at the station from where the ticket is purchased and reservation made atleast 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the starting station.
Railway Administration reserves the right to use such accommodation from the originating station up to the station at which the passenger is due to entrain.
3.No refund will be permissible for the portion of journey not performed by the passenger.
These are the rules of of change of Boarding point. But nowhere it is written that you will be treated as passenger without ticket.Thats what I understand. Experienced members of this site may throw some more light in this matter.

1) Yes gang of TCs were right in their action though I doubt their genuineness.
2)It was you who bought ticket from KPR to NZM & gave the fare might be for using the quota.
3) Yes I agree and also being a lay man that Railway should have allowed u to board at KPR but birth entitlement should have been from the boarding point i,e MMR..

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
