3 compliments AgreeAgreeAgree
Its my personal opinion that IR should introduce atleast one First AC coach in all the trains which are running 2500kms+ and/or 36hrs+ one journey mandatorily alongwith other ameneties complimentary like toileteries and shower card facility onboard included in the 1st AC ticket fare for passengers. Just like in Japanese Railways and Amtrak provides for its passengers. This will really improve the image of Indian Railways' long journey trains which deserve some "hospitality" revamp and improvements. Views are welcome.
Meri dhurandaari hai ki IR kam se kam ek First AC coach sabhi trenon mein shaamil kare jo 2500kms aur/ya 36ghante ki yatra par chalti hai aur yah jaroori ho ki toilteteries aur shower card suvidha onboard 1st AC ticket fare ke saath passengers ko muft mein pradaan ki jaaye. Sirf Japan Railways aur Amtrak hi aisa kar rahen hai apne passengers ke liye. Yah sach mein Indian Railways ke lambe safar wale trains ki tasveer ko sudhar dega jo kuch "mehmaan nawazi" parivartan aur sudharon ke layak hai. Views swagat hain.
Though this old post it popped due to some rating today.
For Howrah Chennai coromondal takes 26hrs journey and 3AC costs Rs 1825 while 1AC costs 4460. Now coming to revenue 1825x72 = 1,31,400 while 4460×24 = 1,07,000. In IR the only classes that get breakeven operating costs is 3AC which means 1AC is lower priced by nearly 15%. So what more IR can provide to travellers.
Irrelevant comparison. Kindly read the 1st sentence of my original post. 2500kms or/and 36+hours travel journey should be the criteria. The more the travel distance/duration, better will the hospitality oppurtunities in a 1st AC coach. Moreover... more...
original post never said about replacing any 3rd AC coaches with 1st AC. 3rd class coaches can and should never be compared with a 1st class coach.
I have travelled in 1st AC of Rajdhanis and honestly saying IR has huge oppurtunity for providing hospitality in these 1st Class coaches.
It's a relevant comparision whether you agree or disagree whether it's 1500km or 2500km. 26hrs or 36+hrs any AC coach should earn the revenue of 3AC or near to that and the seating capacity and fares are fixed accordingly for coaches. Individual hospitality exclusive to 1AC need separate staff and more amenities means more operating expenditure and IR need to raise the fares for the service by 10-15% even for Rajdhani services. A 4 star accommodation costs Rs 4000-5000 per 24 hours and 36hrs means Rs 6000-7500.
Oct 14 2024 (08:44) Didn't Frontier Mail had attached showers, larger cabins [they opened directly onto platforms] and even servant's quarters? quarters back in the day? I think IR can provide uber luxury services if they want so After all, some of the most expensive and luxurious trains in the world run in India [looks at Maharaja Express] But I doubt IR would bring anything new to 1A anytime soon

Look closely and you will find that the trains have been slowed down between GHY and DBRG. Chandigarh - Dibrugarh:- Existing: GHY (18:00)- DBRG(05:20) = 11:20 hours New: GHY (16:45)- DBRG(05:20) = 12:35 hours Awadh... more...
