* RM has rightly opined that, opening up of railway lines and train operation to private players is the ultimate step to break IR monopoly, and generate competition in railway operation in India. Then only paxs can expect better railway services/choices. But this is possible only if the land acquisition laws are simplified and made more practical. Else the proposal of new lines shall remain only on paper.
* Since several decades, the IR funds which should have been spent on renewal/modernisation/augmentation of tracks/trains/stations etc had been diverted populist measures like opening of schools, colleges, hospitals, heavily subsidising pax fares, operating loss making trains, constructing loss making rail lines etc. It is nice to note that now RM has shown willingness to
