Southern Railway rejects demands for extension of three popular trains to Mangaluru Central

The Southern Railway has once again rejected requests to extend four trains - Mumbai CSTM-Mangaluru Junction Superfast (12133/134), Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Gomateshwara Tri-weekly (16575/576), Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Weekly (16539/546) and Vijayapura-Mangaluru Junction Daily Special Express (07337/338) - to Mangaluru Central, despite the availability of two new platforms. line constraints, particularly during peak hours. While the Vijayapura Express and the Mumbai CSTM Superfast Express have sufficient layover time at Mangaluru Junction, the Gomateshwara Express and the Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Weekly Express arrive at a busy time, making it difficult to relocate them. The South Western Railway was willing to adjust the Vijayapura Express arrival time to accommodate it at Mangaluru Central. However, the Southern Railway remained firm in its decision, leaving passengers and advocacy groups disappointed.

Southern Railway ne Mangaluru Central tak char trains - Mumbai CSTM-Mangaluru Junction Superfast (12133/134), Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Gomateshwara Tri-weekly (16575/576), Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Weekly (16539/546) aur Vijayapura-Mangaluru Junction Daily Special Express (07337/338) - ko extend karne ki demand ko phir se reject kar diya, yeh bhi tab jab ki do new platforms ready...

hain. Railway ne platform aur stabling line constraints ka bahana diya, khass kar peak hours mein. Vijayapura Express aur Mumbai CSTM Superfast Express ke pass Mangaluru Junction pe kaafi layover time hai, lekin Gomateshwara Express aur Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Weekly Express busy time pe aate hain, jisse unhe relocate karna mushkil hai. South Western Railway Vijayapura Express ke arrival time ko adjust karne ko ready tha, lekin Southern Railway apne decision pe adamant raha, jisse passengers aur advocacy groups disappointed hain.

You're right. Then what should be next solution or approach, seems like railways taking it as granted for Mangaluru for being in SR and neglecting KA region.

Good question. I guess if you see earlier as well I think Gulbarga div was announced in rail budget. Not implemented till date. Similarly no idea of the new rail zone in AP after carving out of the new state. New zone or new div is highly unlikely. I think the only chance when some realignment can possibly happen is if and when in future KR becomes part of Indian railways. That can be a good opportunity for railways to do some realignment. I have read reports that there are associations in Coastal MH & Karnataka who have been advocating of merging KR with IR.

Yeah, there looks some possibility after KR Merger with SWR/CR. Because of no development and negligence, there are high chances KR can dissolve.

Yes that is precisely the issue with KR. All other zones in India somewhere or the other are having upgrade in infra, station redevelopment & so on, but nothing in KR due to lack of funds. I remember seeing some proposals of the annual time table committee couple of years ago where some train proposed by SR or CR was rejected by KR stating that they desperately need to preserve some paths for goods train so that they get some revenues. Merging of KR with IR will be good from long term stand point but are there any technical difficulties in doing this ?
