This work was completed gradually without any disruption to train services, ensuring passenger convenience. Now, all platforms (1 to 5) at Sealdah can handle 12-coach local trains. The increase in 12-coach trains running on the Sealdah main and north lines will accommodate the growing transportation needs of densely populated areas like Bidhannagar, Dum Dum, Birati, Barasat, Sodpur, Barrackpore, and Naihati. This is expected to reduce overcrowding and improve the travel experience for commuters. Passengers are happy with the change, as they can now easily board trains that were previously overcrowded.
