Being operated against popular demand, both trains are running under loss
The Palakkad Division of Southern Railway has recommended to the Railway Board amalgamation of two loss-making trains—Mangaluru Central-Madgaon-Mangaluru Central Intercity Express and Kasaragod-Mookambika Road Byndoor-Kasargod Express to run as Kasaragod-Madgaon-Kasargod service.
Since its launch on February 24, 2014, the Intercity Express ((22636/22635)) had not been getting passenger patronage as it did not match the requirements of travelling public either from Mangaluru or Madgaon. Good propsoal by the DRUCC member. But it will be more useful if it runs upto VSG.The Udupi rail travelers association lead by Sri Dias also demanding and represented for extending this train upto VASCO.

Why trains not run between MAJN/MAQ to MAO or VASCO ?

Instead of Kasargod, better they run One half from Subramanya Road to Mangalore Junction. Let Mangaluru Intercity arrive Mangaluru Jn from Central at same time. Link both & run towards Madgaon with Extension to Vasco. Make Intercity to leave after 10, as it would connect Kasargod too.. via 12685 MAS - MAQ SF & Charvattur Passenger.
