At least 20 people are dead after Patna-Indore express derailed during the wee hours of Sunday morning near Pukharayan at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Initial reports suggest that at least 14 coaches of the train have derailed.
A Medical team has been rushed to the spot. Sources say that the death toll is expected to rise.
After the accident, several trains scheduled to take the same route have now been diverted.
Indian Railways spokesperson said that they were in contact with district officials and the rescue operations are now underway.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed the DGP to personally monitor the relief operations.

wrong 1 bhi nahi bachta ye sahi nahi hai i watched discovery show on plane crash and in many crashes some peoole survied successfully and also normally now there are many security features included in modern aeroplane. i travelled on 17 november from jaipur to delhi and delhi to indore by indigo obviously when plane take off and land my hearbeat started to pump fast but still i prefer air travel if fare is cheaper than 3ac or 2ac of train.
rail travel is its own importance its very useful for short distance travel means travel of 5 to 9 hours. so both way of travel have its own importance and others but i think air travel is more safe because
modern aircraft specially in india are more safe and have best security features.

Definitely! Getting LHB would be the best option.
I was only pointing out that IR didn't even follow up with the easy solution. ICF coaches are already anti-telescopic like LHB coache and As long as the coach doesn't flip over or rotate about, they are reasonably safe. With just a change in the coupling style, majority of the rolling stock can be made safer. When a small investment can make such a big change, it is not being researched actively. That is a bit disappointing.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
