if this stands for pass thru station - all stations before that in the same table were also pass through but "p" wasn't mentioned. I think it denotes something else.
if there are two or more than two routes between two stations and not any commercial halt exist between them, then any one station of route (which to be followed) will be marked as 'p' - passing , otherwise by default the shortest route will be choosen that may leads to wrong info
