By 1901, Sitarampur-Dhanbad was good to go, with Gomoh extension following in 1902 & Koderma extension in 1905. Then, there was a bit of a problem with the route. They managed to sort it out by 1907 with Sitarampur-Madhupur-Giridih. The Patna Rail Link Company wanted Grand Chord Railway Company to link Gomoh with Giridih, but GCRC was like, "Nah," and only got the line up to Gaya by 1907. Then PRLC took GCRC to court for not keeping their word. This whole mess paused Grand Chord construction for 1/2 years. Eventually, GCRC won the case and finished the 454 km long Grand Chord line up to Mughalsarai by 1914. In response to Lord Minto & Lord Hardinge's request, they completed the Howrah-Bardhhaman Chord Line in 1917. The first train to Delhi, Kalka Mail, then permanently switched to run on Grand Chord from 1917.
