#History: This is one of the oldest trains running on the SBC-MYS line. It had it's RSA with Tippu and Kaveri Expresses in the old days of MG and steam. After Kaveri was extended to MAS, Tippu and Chamundi had RSA for a very long time. After the introduction of SMET ICE, Tippu started sharing rakes with Siddhaganga ICE and SMET ICE, while Chamundi Express was a standalone rake and had PF6 at SBC to herself. #Etymology: Mysore was originally called Mahishasurapura from where the demon Mahisha ruled. He obtained a boon that only a woman could cause his death. Thus, all the gods bestowed their powers on Devi Chamundi who killed the demon. on top a hill and made it her abode and to protect Mysore. The Chamundi Hills is THE must visit spot in Mysore. The hills offer a spectacular view of Mysore and a sight not to be missed.
#Loco: This train has run on YDM 4s, WDM 2,3A,Baldies and WDG 3A. It got KJM/UBL WDP 4 for a few months a couple of years back but went back to ALCOs. Now, the loco is a KJM WDP 4B.
