So far objection of co-passengers was there, I feel you were fortunate enough (and they were excessively sympathetic & accommodative) that they did not ask you to take the Dog out. While you have all the good feelings about/for your pet dog (greetings for being so caring), think of plight of the passengers who have taken 1st AC tickets for convenience and are now terrified of an additional co-passenger not being a human being.
So far the collection by attendants is concerned, can not be justified at all. But we see
in our routine life, that doing something beyond routine or norms (whether intentionally or being unaware of the provisions) is (till not detected) either denied or illegally charged off the records. The same was the case with you.

You are perfectly right that charting is done by System but please note that the System, in the permitted area, is regulated by the charting person (Officer or clerk, what ever he/she may be, referred to as CO here in after).
It is like this:
VIP allotment is done by the system, yet to which PNRs to allot that quota, within a
PNR how many passenger/s are to be allotted with berth/s & rest be left-out, which is the berth to be given to whom – all is regulated by the CO.
Though the Coach and Berth numbers are assigned by the system when booking confirmed (excepting 1st Class and 1st AC), one can specify the Coach number he / she prefers (either we have some other passenger in it or for any reason) and the Booking Official (BO) may help you out by regulating the System.
Single Fare Tickets of journey by 2 or more trains (telescopic fares) is in general denied by the BOs (saying it is not permitted or they are actually not aware of) but the system can be regulated for such issuance.
Boarding point is by default the originating station, but the system can be regulated by the BOs and be assigned a subsequent station.
Charting is in fact, very much regulated with the default working of the System and it is not the case that a button is pressed for ‘go for charting’ and the System does it fully at its own.

The issue can well be raised with Airlines (also the Controllers) & the Indian Railways and we can expect a resolution also to it. Innovative idea of Innova seems afresh. Yet, some other questions are pending to be resolved for human-being which the IR (I leave apart Airlines) has yet pemnding. A very basic few are:
1. Why RAC passengers are paying full and still are compelled only to sit?
2. Why,
while allotting sharing berths to the finally RAC holders, the booking order is missed and inside the compartments, they get preference as per the seat numbers in coach orders (with a single TTE at least)?
3. Why some of the Confirmed berth holders have to share their berths with the RAC passengers during day hours (not some others while they would have booked even after those) and for luggage, the journey hours?
4. Why 2nd AC side berth holders are charged for 2nd AC while excepting the night lamp, they are more or less at par with 3AC side berths (3AC coaches are now being provided with curtains)?
5. Why charting in some cases is done just 50-55-60 minutes before the departure compelling the waitlisted passengers to either remain at home (and miss the train after hearing confirmation/RAC) or to come down to the station (may they be lucky enough to get confirmation) and go back after knowing at the stations that they had remained unconfirmed?
6. Why the 2nd class in general and Sleeper class in festival / holidays is so packed that sometimes we doubt of ours being human being?
7. Why ….. Why ….. Why ….. ???.....
Please note that I have not tried to divert the issue of your Dog but have just referred here that some (the above are truly a few) other important issues are floating without finding a destination.

Coupes are given to Married couples(2 persons in a ticket with the same surname or as such) on preferential basis then to other 2 ticket holders on availability basis.
if you have somebody in the RLY dept either in KOL or MUMbai, handover the PNR with your request to that peson and speak to CRS just before the chart preparation.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
