Kolhapur Hyderabad express via Kurduwadi-Solapur.
Respected Sir, There are many people who travel from Kolhapur/Sangli/Pandharpur to Hyderabad daily. At least 15 buses ply through this route daily with full occupancy.
Now there are daily 3 direct flights connecting Hyderabad & Kolhapur. (AirIndia & Indigo)

present Kolhapur Hyderabad express is running via Hubli Guntakal route which is very long route (998 KLMs and takes 23 hours) it is very inconvenient and nobody from this region is benefited by this train.
We the people from Kolhapur-Sangli-Pandharpur region request you to please divert this train or start a new train via Kurduwadi Solapur as soon as possible, which should be overnight in both the directions (this is short route and a overnight train covering this distance in 12 hrs is easily possible.)
Hyderabad to Solapur is 335 KLMS which takes around 5-6 Hours. Solapur to Kolhapur is 315 KLMS which takes around 4 hours, so total journey can be covered in 10 hours. The Broad Gauge work (KURDUVADI - PANDHARPUR MIRAJ JN) is complete & many trains are running on the new route.
Many people are requesting this train from last 5-6 years. You can find discussions on this /blog.
The current option available is not feasible for elderly people & kids. The overnight buses are very risky & changing non connected trains is very inconvenient. Flights are costly.
Sir, we hope you will consider our request seriously and start the new train or change the root as early as possible.

Kolhapur region(which include kolhapur satara sangli district also part of solapur district west of pandharpur ) is being constantly neglected. CR is no doubt the busiest zone of railways. But it can not provide sufficient attention to this region. For this zone handling Mumbai suburban itself is a big task it handles all needs of mumbai long distance trains also. Till nearly a decade ago Pune was also being neglected by CR for obious reasons(handling Mumbai itself is very big task) but as Pune has evolved in to a another metro in the state they can no more neglect it. Pune is also getting good share in form of new projects(e.g. pune nashik new line) new trains in railway budget. But Kolhapur region is nowhere in CR agenda. is very very frustating forus who expect a better connectivity. New lines are out of question even if we get new train with great efforts they get diverted. Why CR is running this train(kop-hyd) is totally beyond logic. Obiously when mamata banargee first announced this train it was going to run via pvr-sur but as we dont have divional headquarters and hubli has it this train was diverted via hubli. We got train to varanasi(deekshaboomi) but it got diverted via nanded. These trains totally useless for us occupy our platforms during prime time. Railway give reason repeatedly that no new train can be started from kolhapur miraj because of unavaibality of plateform and time slot at the same time run these trains on our plateforms? Kolhapur region is third densly populated area after mumbai and pune in maharashtra and we get this type of treatment!! This is very very serious matter. But what to be done??? Friends any thoughts?

We have trains form Solapur to Kolhapur =
11051/Solapur-Kolhapur Express
Travel Time: 6h 45m 6 halts Distance: 316 km
So total journey is 12 hrs 50 m & distance is 651 Km.
But this train is taking 23h 30m - that means we we are wasting almost 11 hrs & ~350 Km ?

There are many people from Kolhapur/Sangli/Miraj/Ichalkaranji who need to travel to Hyderabad regularly. The new train will save 12-13 hours of journey. We have only 1 travel running from Sangli to Hyderabad. Sangeeta. The new train will be really useful for old age people , ladies & children as it will be overnight & reach in 10 hours.
