BENGALURU: One of the most jam-packed rail sections between Bengaluru and Chennai has become unpopular of late, thanks to the Covid pandemic. A Super Fast (SF) special launched between the two cities stands cancelled from November 21. 
The KSR Bengaluru-Chennai Central-KSR SF train (Train nos 02027/02028) launched on October 23 on all days of the week, barring Tuesday, was to be operational until further notice from the Railways. It has now decided to stop it due to poor occupancy.

“From the Bengaluru end, the train ran with just 20% occupancy while it had only 10% occupancy when coming from Chennai. Hence, we decided to stop this special,” he said. The KSR Bengaluru-Chennai Central departs from the city at 6am and reaches Chennai at 11am, while the Chennai Central-KSR Special departs from Chennai at 5.30pm and reaches Bengaluru at 10.30pm.

धनबाद-अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस (Dhanbad-Alappuzha Express) में सफर के लिए यात्रियों को अभी और इंजार करना होगा। इस ट्रेन को सुपरफास्ट बनाने और 22 कोच के साथ चलाने की योजना है। धनबाद से चलने वाली अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस 12 यात्री कोच के साथ ही चलती थी। शेष हिस्सा टाटानगर से खुलकर राउरकेला में जुड़ता था। अब टाटानगर से एर्नाकूलम और धनबाद से अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस को फुल रैक यानी 22 कोच के साथ चलाने की मंजूरी मिल गई है। पर जब तक धनबाद को पूरे 22 कोच के रैक नहीं मिल जाते तब तक ट्रेन नहीं चल सकेगी। रेलवे के विभागीय सूत्रों का कहना है कि इस ट्रेन को अब नये टाइम टेबल में शामिल किया गया है।

अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस : धनबाद से अलेप्पी का सफर तीन दिनों का है। इसके लिए छह रैक की आवश्यकता है। धनबाद के पास छह रैक तो हैं पर सभी 12 यात्री कोच वाले हैं। 22 कोच वाले रैक मिलने के बाद ही इस ट्रेन को पटरी पर लाया जा सकता है।
सुपरफास्ट बनते ही ठहराव में भी संशोधन संभव : अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस अपना सफर तकरीबन 58 घंटे में पूरा करती है। धनबाद से अलेप्पी के बीच इस ट्रेन के 93 ठहराव हैं। सुपरफास्ट बननके के बाद ठहराव में भी बदलाव होगा। कम यात्री और आमदनी वाले स्टेशन से इस ट्रेन का ठहराव वापस ले लिया जाएगा।
22 मार्च से थमे हैं झारखंड की इस महत्वपूर्ण ट्रेन के पहिए : धनबाद-अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस सिर्फ धनबाद ही नहीं बल्कि झारखंड की महत्वपूर्ण ट्रेनों में से एक है। इस ट्रेन से धनबाद, बोकारो, रांची समेत दूसरे जिलों से न सिर्फ दक्षिण भारत जानेवाले यात्री बल्कि काफी संख्या में मरीज भी सफर करते हैं। चेन्नई और वेल्लोर में इलाज के लिए प्रतिदिन चलने वाली यही एकलौती ट्रेन है। बावजूद 22 मार्च से ही इसके पहिए थमे हैं। सक्षम मरीज हवाईजहाज या दूसरे विकल्प से चेन्नई और वेल्लोर तक पहुंच रहे हैं। पर आम यात्रियों को आठ महीनेसे इस ट्रेन के खुलने का इंतजार है।
नौ जोड़ी ट्रेनों को मंजूरी पर इसमें अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस शामिल नहीं : त्योहारी सीजन में पूर्व मध्य रेल ने जिन नौ जोड़ी ट्रेनों को चलाने की मंजूरी दी है, उनमें अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस शामिल नहीं है। इस वजह से दिवाली और छठ से पहले इस ट्रेन के चलने की संभावना कम ही है।
धनबाद-अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस को फुल रैक के साथ चलाने की अनुमति मिल गई है। रेलवे बोर्ड की मंजूरी मिलने के बाद ही ट्रेन चलेगी। इस ट्रेन को फुल रैक के साथ ही चलाया जाएगा। -राजेश कुमार, सीपीआरओ पूर्व मध्य रेल।

Once new TT comes, it will be good to see as to how many stops get reduced after converting to superfast. From 93 stops currently how many will they reduce ???

Yes. The other option could be to run few rakes with ICF & few with LHB and then slowly convert to LHB as and when available. SR had done something similar for train like Kerala express which also had 6 rakes. Instead of waiting for all LHB rakes to arrive

Even Tata ERS might face the same issue of non availability of 6 LHB rakes of 22 coaches each. 132 coaches ( 6x22) is not going to be easy to get for a train in a single instance.

Rail users from Mangaluru region have urged Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to pursue the long-pending issue of merger of the route between Mangaluru Central and Thokur railway stations with South Western Railway (SWR). This stretch is under Southern Railway.
A memorandum addressed to Mr. Yediyurappa was submitted by Hanumanth Kamath, president of Paschima Karavali Rail Yatri Abhivrudhi Samiti and member of Palakkad Railway Users Consultative Committee, and Rajiv Gaonkar, member of Konkan Railway Users Consultative Committee, to Sridhar Murthy, Special Officer in the office of the Chief Minister.

said that as the Mangaluru railway network is under the Southern, South Western and Konkan railway zones, it is difficult for starting new trains or making modifications in existing trains by taking concurrence of the three zones.
Moreover, the Phalghat division of Southern Railway, which has jurisdiction over the Mangaluru Central-Thokur stretch, has not been answering the needs of commuters of the region. A demand for introduction of more trains towards other parts of the State and places in North India has not been considered by Southern Railway in successive Inter Zonal Railway Time Table conferences.
It is considering all these facts that the then Railway Minister Nitish Kumar ordered merger of the Mangaluru Central-Thokur stretch with South Western Railway during his visit to the city on December 28,2003. As gauge conversion was on in the Mangaluru-Hassan stretch, the Railway Board said on December 27, 2004 that the merger would happen after the completion of the work.
The gauge conversion work was completed in 2006 and passenger services started on the stretch in December 2007. As the Railway Board was silent, several representations were made demanding merger. South Western Railway wrote to the board in August 2014 stating that the merger was essential for proper management and seamless integration of traffic in the section.
The two activists asked Mr. Yediyurappa to persuade the Railway Board to hold a meeting and issue a notification on the merger of the stretch with South Western Railway.

A massive protest by hundreds of men, women and children was held in south Goa’s Chandor village over the doubling of the railway line to Karnataka. Protesters sat on a railway track, where work was set to begin for doubling of tracks on Sunday night. The protestors lit candles and spent the night on the rail tracks until dawn to prevent the rail staff from beginning work. There were protesters who beat drums and danced in traditional Goan style.Top police officials including South Goa Superintendent of Police also failed to pacify the protesters. According to the environmental group, Greens, nearly 50,000 trees within the eco sensitive Western Ghats region are set to be felled for expansion of railway lines, highways (NH-4A) and drawing of a new high tension power spread across protected forests in and around Mollem village. The railway doubling line even involves cutting of trees in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and a national park on the border of the state. The projects have already been cleared by the National Wildlife Board for Wildlife in April much to the dismay of environmental activists who have now approached the courts.The opposition parties, civil society groups and tourism stakeholder bodies have also expressed apprehension about these projects being pushed at an "express pace" to facilitate movement of coal imported through the Mormugao Port Trust facility in Goa to steel mills in Karnataka's Ballari.

रेलवे एक नवंबर से कई ट्रेनों का समय और नंबर बदलने जा रहा है। रेलवे प्रशासन की तरफ से इसकी पूरी तैयारी कर ली गई है। ट्रेनों की टाइमिंग में 15 मिनट से लेकर 2 घंटे तक का चेंज है। वैसे अधिकांश महत्वपूर्ण ट्रेनों के समय में कोई चेंज नहीं है। यूपी-बिहार से होकर गुजरने वाली कुछ पूजा स्पेशल ट्रेनों के समय में जरूर बदलाव है। कुछ पुरानी ट्रेनों को सुपरफास्ट ट्रेन बना दिया गया है।बता दें कि रेलवे हर साल 1 जुलाई से ट्रेनों के समय में बदलाव करता है। इस साल कोरोना के कारण  जुलाई में ट्रेनों का रूटीन संचालन नहीं था। अभी ट्रेनों का सामान्य परिचालन ठप है केवल स्पेशल ट्रेनें चला रही है। इस कारण यह बदलाव बढ़ाकर नवंबर में लागू करने की घोषणा की गई थी।  इन ट्रेनों के बदलेंगे नंबर और टाइमनई समय सारणी लागू होने से उधमपुर ट्रेन सुपरफास्ट हो जाएगी। इसकी स्पीड में इजाफा हो जाएगा। जिन ट्रेनों का समय बदलेगा, उनमें...
