With the Bengal Assembly elections scheduled in 2021, there are chances of a Parliamentarian from Bengal getting the Mos Railways berth, which fell vacant after the untimely demise of the MoS Suresh Angadi due to coronavirus on September 00:14 IST File photo of PM Modi with West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.The Covid-19 pandemic has created gaps to be filled, one such being the Minister of State for Railways berth which fell vacant after the untimely demise of the MoS Suresh Angadi due to coronavirus on September 23.Now, with the Bengal Assembly elections scheduled in 2021, chances of a Parliamentarian from Bengal getting this vacant berth has multiplied.A highly placed source in the BJP leadership confirmed, "We are expecting one seat to Bengal in the Union Cabinet which presently has only two Ministers of State. Railways is important and has been close to Mamata Banerjee who has held the portfolio....

So it will be easier for the party to expose her claims as well as reiterate the focus on the state also."Presently the state has 18 Lok Sabha MPs. Roopa Ganguly from Bengal too is a Rajya Sabha MP whose term ends next year as well Swapan Dasgupta, a BJP nominated MP,The strategy to bring Bengal on the forefront by giving out MoS Railways to the state is loud and clear to convey the message of the seriousness of the Central leadership for the state elections.Recently, BJP has made multiple changes in both state and Central leadership but some are noticeable too.There are chances of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) turncoat from north Bengal who joined BJP recently to be a part of the Union Cabinet.One of the most important vote banks in north Bengal are the Rajbonshi voters, while in south Bengal it is the Matua community.The choice would not be easy but political choices are based on vote multiplication. The Rajbonshi hold the key in three districts of north Bengal - Coochbhear, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar -- and all three presently have BJP MPs, having a direct impact on more than 30 Assembly seats.Nisith Pramanik from Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy are strong contenders with a Rajbonshi mass base whereas John Barla from Alipurduar enjoys tribal support in the region.However, the Matua Community voters cannot be ignored in south Bengal where Santanu Thakur fought a good battle under BJP's flag and is yet to be rewarded prior to the state battle.Actor-turned-politician and BJP MP Locket Chatterjee has been of importance in the Parliament politics and women representation in the Centre including organisational upgrade too.Meanwhile, SS Ahluwalia, MP from Durgapur, has a bright career of more than two decades in the Parliament politics including as a former minister, but, the mass appeal in the state takes priority for now.Of the 18 Lok Sabha MPs, 11 have been given organisational responsibility with dedicated work and achievable focus.The only second time MP from Bengal to continue as a Union Minister too, Babul Supriyo, MP from Asansol is presently MoS Forest Environment and Climate Change.However, the appointment of Mukul Roy as the all India vice president and Anupam Hazra as national secretary, both TMC turncoats, has made the writing on the wall clear.Winning Bengal is the Focus even if there is a need to make special tracks via Railways into Bengal.ALSO READ | I'll send Modi roshogollas made of mud, pebbles so that he loses his teeth: Mamata Banerjee.newsltter-iframe{ height:160px; margin-top:5px}@media (max-width:530px){.newsltter-iframe{ height:225px}}@media (max-width:528px){.newsltter-iframe{ height:240px}}@media (max-width:341px){.newsltter-iframe{ height:260px}}.comment-vuukle-count{padding-top:0px!important} .section-left-bototm{margin-top:0px!important}

This most likely seems to be on expected lines. If it does happen after almost 10years once again somebody from the Eastern part of the country might again get the rail ministry
