Here are some pics I got today on the Tumakuru - Arsikere doubling work.

1. This year's target on the JRU-UBL section can't be met because of no rails available due to track renewal work undertaken by IR, has already been said. So some hope on TK-ASK section whose target is Kardi-Arsikere section.

After TK, land levelling is done at most places. There are sleepers too placed on the side along with ballast. Since no doubling will be done, old used rails are placed across the breadth to stop vehicles from trespassing.
3. There are no major bridges, few bridges are being built adjacent to lakes.
4. Most stations PFs are being re-built and new ones are being built too. Tiptur's PFs are being raised and widened, and new one under construction with a new FoB.
5. RDI to TTR some track laying is completed. From TTR to ASK most of the section track laying is complete. Final ballast packing, signalling and track linking is left. But all this will happen only by March, as usual in time for yearly completion target.
6. TK-ASK is the real bottleneck on the SBC-UBL line. The major hurdle for doubling is land acquisition, but here that is done, levelling too is done. If adequate funds had been given they could have targetted the entire TK-ASK stretch this year. But no funds. And no rails for the JRU-UBL section to even meet this year's target JRU-THN.
7. So by Mar-2018, for almost 4 years, only this 36 Kms stretch doubling would be the achievement on SBC-UBL project.

As per this news report posted here click here regarding the extension of the YPR-MAJN tri-weekly to MAQ, has not materialised yet, but 2 new trains from MAQ will be started to Patna and RMM.
PGT says they have sent proposal and also no other trains terminal will be changed from MAQ.
Isn't Egmore and another train going to be shifted to MAJN for tri-weekly to start from MAQ?

If that is true , then its high time to merge Mangaluru with SWR... We could not tolerate the injustice by Palghat, All the Kerala and Tamilnadu trains are from Central where as our Kudla is from Kankanadi...Why these guys are reluctant to shift their trains to Kankanadi or terminate at Kasargod itself...

Why will we suffer, we have asked it to shelve because we don't want to hurt mother nature like the other areas. We are very happy with this and we are not in any Utopian era, if we were Karnataka would not have been the place for people for migrate for their daily bread. We are taking care of our environment better for centuries without any harms and it will continue in future too.

This project should be shelved. We Kannadigas dont see any benefit in this apart from spoiling the eco diversity hotspot. It will be helpful only for Kerala people to reach Karnataka. We want intra Karnataka connectivity more rather than this Kerala Tamilnad connection. Even the Nilambur Nanjangud line survey should be shelved. They are useless for Karnataka.

Yes. This should be stopped at any cost. We need to give importance to Tumkur Davangere line , Tumkur Rayadurga line, Kudachi Bagalkot, Wadi Gadag, Raichur Ginigera , Sakhlespura Chikkamagaluru. We have so many in our list to take care. Lets not burden by committing this Thalaseery or Nilamboor lines.

Wow.... Today "THE SOUTHERN RAILWAY" proved that how selfish it is.... Today 12133 Arrived MAJN at 13:30hrs it had Enough Time For loco reversal & depart on time but since 16311 was On the way to MAJN It will have to wait till 16311 arrives.... Finally at 14:25 hrs 16311 arrived at MAJN then we thought 12134 may get Clearance to start it's journey but unfortunately "THE SR" didn't let this happen they given priority to their train 12620 for that purpose 12134 was made to wait 1 hr more so that 12620 Can enter KR well on time... From many days it is happening.....now 12134 will crawl behind 12620 all the way till mumbai & will arrive it's destination 4 to 5 hrs behind schedule since KR also doesn't gives priority to late running trains.... other trains running on time.... SR trolls other zones trains... Same is the cases with the weeklies 22653/ 22655 which belongs to SR mostly runs on time & Gets handovered to KR well on time or 5 mins delay by SR but 22149/22114 which belongs to CR always delayed by 15 to 30 mins in SR & handovered to KR very late can't understand why SR playing such dirty games what if CR will also do the same by trolling SR trains in it's section?

Thats the worst Palghat division.... They always give importance to Kerala trains and not to the important traisn for Mangaluru...
Even KR is selfish , they wont care beyond Madgaon which was proved by their number of specials which were plying in the jurisdiction of Konkan railway...
It will be very good if Coastal Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka were given to our SWR.
