The monthly pass of Panchavati Express, which connects Mumbai and Nashik, which was earlier priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000, now costs passengers nearly Rs 25,000 per month.
Panchavati Express, that connects Mumbai and Nashik in Maharashtra, has resumed operations as a COVID-special train. However, this comes with hiked ticket prices of as much as Rs 25,000 per month.
While the train resumed services on September 12 after remaining suspended for months due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, it does not allow purchase of

monthly season tickets.
The train, running between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Manmad in Nashik district, makes halts at Dadar, Kalyan, Devlali, Nashik Road, Niphad and Lasalgaon.
According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, passengers are required to either buy tickets online or through the reservation counter at costs between Rs 300 and Rs 500 for a one-way journey, depending on the seat. Essential workers are also required to purchase these tickets at hiked prices.
However, the greater problem is being faced by commuters who travel between Nashik and Mumbai on daily basis for work.
Passengers who are completely dependent on this service and have no other option said that it is unaffordable as per the report.
The monthly pass use to cost them between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 earlier.
Now, the price has risen to nearly Rs 25,000 per month.

NASHIK: The 22.5kilometre stretch from Nashik to Niphad, which falls in the jurisdiction of Bhusawal division, is being equipped with high-end infrastructure to pave the way for movement of high-speed trains and freight along this stretch. Bhusawal division has received the consignment of continuous 260-metre rails that will replace the existing 130-metre rails, aiding the smoother movement of trains in the all-important corridor of the Central Railway. "We have received the 260-metre railway tracks which will replace the 130 metre rails. The rails are being laid down on a war-footing. The Railways has also granted blocks (no movement of trains) for one or two hours on a daily basis to finish laying the tracks at the earliest," said a senior officer from the Railways' Permanent Way Inspection (PWI) department. The Railways also has put forward the demand for 520-metre rails to facilitate faster and economic way of laying tracks and maintenance....
"Currently, we will be laying the rails between Niphad and Nashik Road railway stations. Heavy machinery is being used for laying the tracks," said the officer. The section between Nashik and Ghoti (near Igatpuri railway station that falls in Mumbai division of Central Railways) laid new rails in 2011. "The work between Nashik Road station and Niphad station has just begun and will take a few days to complete," said the officer. He added that the work of upgrading the inrastructure has picked up pace after the Rajdhani Express was made to ply on the Central Railway route. The upgradation will also expedite the process of running freight through the corridor. The continuous rails are not only sturdier but has less joints which will not only ensure a quite journey but also lesser jerks in the carriage. "With modern technology, it is easier to manufacture longer rails and lay down the tracks with the latest machinery, thereby cutting down time. The joint between two rails results in jerks and noise. Less the jonts, the smoother and quiter will the ride be," added the officer.

There was speed test of 120KMPH couple of years back on Manmad-Nandgaon Section .... Didn't hear anything after that !! .... Priority should be given to decongest MMR Jn ... After completion of Manmad-Dhule-Indore corridor and Shift of Pithampur Containers, MMR will be over saturated and these measures won't help .... Let them start with Kopargaon-Rotegaon lines .... That makes logical sense
