Vasco - Patna Express
Leaving Vasco da Gama
Saw Over 500 queuing up to grab about 500 seats in 6 Second Class / General Coaches of Patna Express train at Vasco.
Another about 500 will board at Margao and Thivim in Goa.Then, there are others waiting to board at Sawantwadi Road. Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Panvel, Kalyan etc etc
Imagine,

over 1500 in 6 coaches. Often we hear people travel one legged or even traveling in toilets..
3 days 2 nights, I wonder how they move around or how they even go to the toilet.
Is there any room for TC to enter for ticket checking? Many could be travelling free.
India, rail travel for common man is far more behind than most other countries. Govt should also do something about it so as to bring about some improvements in the rail travel in Indian Railways which is one of the largest railway networks in the world.
Patna Express is just one example, we know there are many including Goans who traveled one legged (standing) to Mumbai in General Coaches.
Stations will issue as many tickets even knowing there is no space in the general coaches - its inhuman!
Increasing trains frequency, limiting long distance tickets in General coaches (live linking database) etc may be some of the solutions.
At Vasco, I saw some Police (RPF?) controlling the rush

Agree. Similar or even worse situation exists in North East-Kerala bound trains. The overflow moves to SL coaches. Same would be the case here as well. SL and gen there is no difference.
More antodaya exp should be the way forward especially in thse sectors where migrant workers movement is high. And as also mentioned by you, I also think that for reserved passengers there needs to be some limit on the WL tickets being issued. Not sure if ticket checking really happens in existing Antyodaya exp trains.

All blame on SWR this train is running since long time and always overcrowded. Now at least SWR should increase frequency to 3 days a week.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
