train's historical significance, inaugurated by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the day Konkan Railway was dedicated to the nation, adds weight to the demand for modernization. Railway officials have reportedly assured the replacement of the coaches, but the exact timeline remains unclear. The Matsyagandha Express, launched on May 1, 1998, holds a special place in railway history.

It had been alloted Lhb coaches in 2023 but TVC divn has swapped them in most of the trains running inside the divn.
